I just want to send you my best wishes and ask any way DU members could help you and yours. I know people in Vermont who are taking in evacuees. Perhaps you might hook up with a place to stay or other help on here.

:)

1. There are several DUers who have lost their homes.
But, they can't leave the area right now for various reasons. It really is wonderful to read that people are opening up their homes to those who need a place to live. :hi:

2. Yeah, but what gets me
But what gets me is that individual states seem less willing to take in citizens of their own country than countries in the past have taken in refugees during war. Texas is now ordering evacuees to leave.

4. Texas has already taken in about 225,000 evacuees ....
and are re-routing to other states evacuees that are still coming into the TX. This is what I have read ... correct me if I'm wrong.

I don't know if you mean to be critical of Texas, if so, you are wrong.

3. I heard their was internet at the astrodome
I bet they probably have a time limit. I can imagine a DUer with a line of people behind them trying to use the computer.

5. Boston?
They are shipping a couple thousand to Boston(to make Weld look nice for his run at NY Gov.)to live in some other warehouse center. Sort of like sending Geronimo's Apaches to Florida. Wait until winter hits.

For once they don't have a place to deport people to and the political Beast is a disgrace compared to the goodwill of the their fellow citizens willing to open up real homes and communities- because they are Americans. They are US.
