CNN's Kagyn just said that Bishop T.D. Jakes |
|
Edited on Mon Sep-05-05 09:47 AM by UnityDem
is accompanying Bush to stricken areas to comfort the victims. Take that for what it is worth.

4. Texas preacher - megachurch. Dallas? Fort Worth? |
|
He is black, congregation is mostly black, the Bush team is hoping this will deflect some of the criticism.

I live in Kansas and do my best to ignore the mega churches here, so I'm quite ignorant of those elsewhere.

brilliant move by Rove....I hope that New Orleans mayor and others don't fall for it. Jakes won't let Bush be the fall guy. That role has now been given to Gov.Blanco.

that supported bush and his anti-gay marriage assault on America? Was he one of my fellow African Americans that brought shame on my community by supporting this kind of discrimination? And finally, was he one of the many people that somehow ignored one of the biggest, and largely underreported flip-flops by bush, when a week before election, while trailing in the polls, he said, he had nothing against gay marriage?

9. I heard an interview on CNN with him yesterday, he is a major bushbot |
|
He refused to say anything of consequence, kept dancing around all the issues including the one of race. I give full credit to the CNN person, she (cannot remember who it was)kept hammering him, trying to get an honest response from him but it was a no go.

12. Yes, I saw the interview but expected TD Jakes to skirt the issue of |
|
race. Therefore, I was not surprised when he did just that.

10. He's a piece of worthless crap. Saw him interviewed on CNN last nite |
|
When asked if there were racist undertones ala Kanye West, he danced around the answer saying he won't make assumptions until the facts are in. Newsreader ended interview saying somebody in the newsroom felt that Jakes should have been on a play with a bullhorn in the early days of the tragedy to help calm things down--or something to that effect. :eyes:

|
does this incompetent fool need? I hope the poor people don't fall for this crap but they haven't had the advantage of watching TV and hearing what was really going on. They will believe Jakes as will many of his followers. You have to hand it to them, these neocons know how to push all the buttons.

18. Jakes is famous for his so-called "ministry to women" |
|
He cranks out a lot of Instant Best-Sellers with titles like "Woman, Thou Art Loosed!"
Grumpy (Male) Atheist must note that any woman with a lick of sense will spot this as the same old "submit to anything with a penis" message preached by Phyllis Schlafly, et. al.
A google will tell you more than you ever wanted to know about this slimy, money-grubbing God-Botherer.

not "blame" Bush. He wants some of that money that will be directed to church charitites that are taking the place of Government agencies. So now, the ministers can pocket what they want, spread it out among family and friends and then decide on who should get the leftovers
