I just had an article about it open on my desktop, don't know where it came from (I guess I clicked a link), don't know which paper...will try to find a link.

Here's a link, from the Guardian. This story says 130 Britons, but Blair expects that number to fall. Interestingly, he's getting flack for 'abandoning' his citizens stuck there (some in the Superdome!).

103 Canadians are trying to get out of Louisiana and Mississippi and it may be some time before they can return home.

The Parliamentary Secretary for Canadians abroad, Dan McTeague said: "There are no Canadians confirmed dead, but nine believed to have travelled to the area before the storm remained unaccounted for."

The government is reluctant to classify the nine unaccounted for Canadians as missing, saying only that direct contact has yet to be made.

McTeague said: "The families have communicated with us, but there may not be sufficient information to establish where they are and the condition in which they find themselves."

Pretoria - Four South Africans are still missing after Hurricane Katrina struck the American city of New Orleans last week, the department of foreign affairs said on Monday.

"Over the weekend a total of 17 South Africans had been put on the emergency management system list," said spokesperson Ronnie Mamoepa.

"By today, 13 of these were successfully contacted, or have made contact with their families."

Only four remained on the list, said Mamoepa.

Foreign Office says diplomats denied access

Tony Blair apologised yesterday to Britons who complained of lack of support from the Foreign Office after their Hurricane Katrina ordeal.

Mr Blair, speaking during his visit to Beijing, said: "It's been really tough for people, I know that, but it's been tough for our officials on the ground."

His comments came as the Foreign Office claimed that British diplomats had been unable to get into New Orleans until Sunday. A spokesman said more than 20 diplomats had been willing to go but requests for permission from the US state department and the Louisiana state government had been repeatedly rebuffed.

Britons caught up in the hurricane continued to arrive back in the UK yesterday. One family said American police took snapshots of trapped tourists instead of helping them.

Gerard and Sandra Scott were stranded in their New Orleans hotel with their young son but police did nothing as they shouted for help from the hotel windows. "I couldn't describe how bad the authorities were," Mr Scott told Radio 4's World at One. "Just the little things like taking photographs of us ... for their own personal photo albums, little snapshot photographs.

"At one point, there were a load of girls on the roof of the lobby saying 'Can you help us?' and the policemen said 'Show us what you have got' and made signs for them to lift their T-shirts. When they said no, they said 'Fine' and motored off down the road in their motorboat."

A 65 year old man, he sent his family a email a few days ago from his hotel saying he has been told to go to the superdome, but he hasnt been heard of since.

I thought I had read somewhere else there were at least 10 or so still missing. Maybe it means they were found and accounted for? I hope so and I hope this man is found soon and well!

A few have gotton out in the past few days, our media cannot understand, why some of the army guys arent helping rescuing people, but are just standing guard.
