"Lessons learned"...anyone else sick of hearing that cutesy
corporate self-assessment tool? I am. They have been parading that phrase since 9/11 and have yet to demonstrate that they've learned anything.

1. It's Temporizing
A standard rhetorical device. Says, in effect, "The past doesn't matter, we know how to fix what went wrong, just let's look forward now."

Manipulative. Dishonest. So what else is new?

2. They have been using that for decades now. Too bad we haven't learned
anything though. Because we seem to make the same bone head mistakes over and over again.

3. Well, they can't use the corporatese "post mortem" phrase
It's too true to use as an abstraction.

4. They've had FOUR YEARS to prepare for catastrophes.
And when one happens, they're caught completely off guard?

Lessons learned?

Fuck that. You've had plenty of time to learn the lesson of 9/11.

That's provided that 9/11 wasn't allowed to happen or engineered by the traitors. In light of the Bush version of America's obvious unpreparedness, it really makes me think that 9/11 was LIHOP or MIHOP. For all of their rhetoric about "keeping America safe", they knew that terrorism was barely a blip on the radar. They never actually expected to have to deal with a situation that they didn't engineer themseles or know of in advance, and let happen.

Fucking traitors. America has no penalty sufficient to punish George W. Bush and all of the rest. Death would be far too kind for them.

6. Oh, that was one of my hot buttons in corporate life
lessons learned = management screwed up, and here's how the staff is going to pay for it in perpetuity.

I knew I had to quit one job when the executive staff was praising the new CFO's contributions, among which was convincing them to develop 3 and 5 year revenue goals rather than just annual ones. Forward planning doesn't seem to be the strong suit of the Bush MBA administration either.
