The great humbling of the U.S....
After years of failed domestic and world policy, it took mother nature to bring the U.S. to it's knees. Or did it?

Billions of dollars spent in an ill conceived war based on lies, a federal deficit ballooning to generational proportions, basic aid programs being raided to fund frivolous expenditures of folly, a part time president* who has logged 1 year of vacation time after only being in office for 5 years, the basic inability to help our own citizens in dire need.

After 9/11 the world was at our doorstep to help us. We didn't even have to ask. They offered. They were still of the belief that we were the U.S. of old. The one that respected it's neighbors, the one that helped in kind. Over inflated with a sense of purpose, the president* felt then that he could do what he wanted to spend this new found good will towards us. And spend he did, he spent away all the good will, he spent away the surplus left by Bill Clinton, and most of all and the most damaging, he spent away our reputation.

Iraq has destroyed this nation. A shift to the religious dogma to replace national dialog. A rapidly growing divide between the have-nots and the have-mores.

We now are in debt for the foreseeable future, we have 4 straight years of growing poverty, we are fighting a war that shows no end, and now we have Katrina.

For 5 days, thousands of people went without food or water, many still without to this day, 8 days later. Why is this? Are we not able to take care of our own population? No.

With money emptying out of our pockets because of Iraq and a president* whose whole mission is to do everything on the cheep, he* has failed the most basic test as a president*, take care and improve the welfare of the nations people.

Because of this 4 time failed businessman's ego, lack of planning, shortsightedness, inability to lead, failure to spend wisely and gamble away our future, he now has to go with hat in hand to accept aid from other nations. On the surface, that's not a bad thing, but as little as 4 days ago, he said he didn't want it or need it. This is termed as a fool.

Neither having the ability to understand or accept the enormity of this coming disaster before it happened, while it was happening or it's aftermath, thousands suffered and died.

We are humbled. We are on our knees. Not because of a terrific blow to our nations body, but because our leader* kicked our feet out from under us.
