Charles Boustany (LA republican - congressman) --- asshole MEME maker
Well, this congressional tool was just on MSNBC helping to spread the "state aid was ineffectual" meme being spread by the BFEE to divert blame from the Chimperator. He repeated the meme no less than 7 times during a 3 min. interview.

Get ready for the onslaught...

1. Perhaps state aid was ineffectual-- but they have had to deal with
the Bush economy too, and their lack of resources are ultimately Bush's problem.

6. yep, "ineffectual state aid" is the catch-phrase for media distribution
Maybe...just maybe...the media won't take the bait this time. Wait! What am I thinking about? This is the corporate-led media, just looking for any excuse to shift blame from their fat-cat contributors and their ruling political party.

Of course, the Rovian rethugs never let facts get in the way of their propoganda.

10. Where's his district? Shreveport? If so, then it makes sense...
The farther west and north that you travel in LA, the more conservative and "backwoods" the thinking becomes. If you think those in NO were dirt poor, you should see some of the regions to the West...almost 19th century in their standard of living. But, god forbid you kill a little fetus or even suggest social policies that might lead to "race trading."

Remember, this is the state that produced that scumbag, David Duke.

13. Lafayette and Lake Charles area
We have plenty of affected people fixing to become residents of this area. We are only 48 miles down I-10 from Baton Rouge.

He's a fricken dumbass on all counts

14. SW ....Lake Charles...
He just won it from a Conservative Democrat.

I'm from NW Louisiana...its not how you describe it at all, other than the "conservative" part.

18. matter of semantics. Duke ran in LA and had a troubling level of support
Edited on Mon Sep-05-05 11:02 AM by AngryWhiteLiberal
I'm a former resident of Baton Rouge ('92-'00), so I'm not completely unfamiliar with LA politics and the RAMPANT christian conservative attitudes in the backwater areas. Unfortunately, my experience in working around the state was that these very people were also closet racists.

I seem to remember (not fondly) quite a few bible-thumper landmarks along I-10 (or was it I-12?) from Baton Rouge to Hammond.

7. Yeah, I heard that too - don't let 'em get away with it! Actually,
I think the FEMA fuck-up is so huge they won't be able to spin their way out of it. Nagin and Blanco have been speaking up loudly and clearly about just where the blame resides.

Edited on Mon Sep-05-05 10:51 AM by sloppyliberal
Because the headline in todays local paper is ALL about Lafayette not getting any federal support, advice, help, assistance, direction nor communication, and this IS his constituency....

What a fucking shame (not)

12. I heard him too
I logged on to DU because I couldn't believe the obvious White House/Rep party talking points he was spewing. And, the interviewer (didn't catch who it was - it was a woman) just took it. Please don't tell me the media's backbone is gone again - they just found it last week, they couldn't have lost it already!

15. The interviewer was Kris Jansen - the only ANIME/HUMAN news anchor
Her anime eyes really creep me out. Maybe the product of some weird animation/human gene splicing experiment?

17. Point out to that Metoo idiot that the feds actively contributed to
the flooding, first through budget cuts and then through withholding assistance while their boy made a power play. Every second that * grandstanded and stalled cost lives. These dead will be stacked at their doorstep. They need to get used to themselves as the party willing to hold power at any cost--in integrity, dollars, and lives. How fucking crasser can you get than that? * and his sycophants are willing to kill for power.
