Xtian Group says gays responsible for destruction of 'wicked city'
(New Orleans, Louisiana) An evangelical Christian group that regularly demonstrates at LGBT events is blaming gays for hurricane Katrina.

Repent America says that God "destroyed" New Orleans because of Southern Decadence, the gay festival that was to have taken place in the city over the Labor Day weekend.

"Southern Decadence" has a history of filling the French Quarters section of the city with drunken homosexuals engaging in sex acts in the public streets and bars" Repent America director Michael Marcavage said in a statement Wednesday.

"Although the loss of lives is deeply saddening, this act of God destroyed a wicked city." Marcavage said. "From ‘Girls Gone Wild’ to ‘Southern Decadence’, New Orleans was a city that had its doors wide open to the public celebration of sin. May it never be the same."

So true. :eyes: And it's funny how they know all about what the city does without living there eh? It's funny how they always talk about sex. Sex, sex, sex.

If God wanted to destroy New Orleans, he sure has lousy aim.

31. Of course He has bad aim, haven't you heard the joke
about the priest and nun playing golf, and whenever the priest missed a putt he would respond with "dammit, missed the sonofabitch". Each time the nun would admonish him for being a priest using such language and warn that God would punish him, but he would continue. Finally on the last hole with storm clouds rolling in, the priest missed his putt and again "dammit, missed the sonofabitch!" Suddenly out of the storm clouds a bolt of lightening came down and struck the nun. Then, a great, booming voice came out of the sky: "Dammit! Missed the sonofabitch!"

4. Well it didn't work. They conducted the parade
Only 12 people showed up for this parade. Nevertheless, they had it. This was on NPR this morning.

Maybe Repent America can spend some time pondering why so many churches were destroyed in the hurricane and yet the parade still happened.

9. Wonder what they are saying to the fact that...
most of NO churches were destroyed, along with the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, which has given the world a lot of very fundamentalist theologians? According to their reasoning, maybe God is punishing them for misrepresenting who God is. The fact is, the US had the resources to prevent this human suffering--we just didn't use them in time.

13. If God is punishing - it wouldn't have nothing to do with the religion
being hijacked - by greedy folks who have subverted the teachings of Christ into a message of greed, power and hate?

19. Story: al Qaeda says Katrina is "wrath of God"
Iraq's al Qaeda says Katrina is "wrath of God"-Web

DUBAI (Reuters) - The al Qaeda group in Iraq on Sunday hailed the hurricane deaths in America as the "wrath of God," according to an Internet statement.

"God attacked America and the prayers of the oppressed were answered," said the statement, which was posted on an Islamic Web site often used by the insurgent group fighting the U.S.-backed Iraqi government.

30. Heh... well the God of the Old Testament
wasn't afraid to use floods to punish his people...remember Noah?

I don't understand the "Christians" who always refer to the Old Testament God...I really don't. It seems like some people love using their religion to project their hatred to those different from them. Not a pretty trait...
