Real Time with Bill Maher last night...
I finally saw it last night...and he made a comment that makes some sense to me...he mentioned that perhaps the Democrats are kicking back and letting the republicans screw things up...then they are going to come out and say...see...we told you...

something like that...

Does anyone agree with that...?

Or should they be more visiable and pounce on BushCo and the rest of the twits...?

1. Maybe, but...
they sure seem to be defended often for apparently doing nothing.

2. Maybe they could have gotten people fed sooner if they spoke out
If they're more concerned with "I told you so", they're as bad as *.

9. Sooner than August 26?
That's when Gov. Blanco declared a disaster. They were speaking out. Please don't fall for the smear campaign.

15. I think so too
I'm a bit mixed. I think people like the governor, mayor and Landrieu and people personally effected should be out there pounding. The others should be apart of the rebuilding and all that.

4. Dems need to wait and plan their line of attack
Right now everyone is focused on the actual event and political bickering will backfire. Once the dust settles and the Dems have gathered facts and a line of attack then they need to unleash it full force and not let up until after the mid terms.

8. I can't recall the last time they ever unleashed anything full force.
Not as a cohesive group, anyway.

5. Yes, that was the scenario, but now that Bush is blaming LA Dems,
they have to seriously re-evaluate. They can't do and say nothing and expect to get votes by default.

6. Let the people lead
don't depend on the "leaders"

That's true democracy.

7. The Repugnus are doing a good job.....
of fucking things up right now. Bush will regain some of his charm because of the press but when the smoke clears it will be a feeding frenzy on Shrub and the Repugnus for cutting funding on the levee program, like all the other critical programs in the US.

10. If that is so, it is equally
evil. I hope that's not the case. They need to speak up. People are dying.

If the Dems wait too long,
the Repukes will have already repeatedly framed their attack line: that it was a state/local failure. They'll be on every TV station and in every newspaper with the same line. Once that happens, any response by the Dems will sound weak and defensive. The time to frame this and get the truth out is NOW.

12. If this is true, then the Democrats are as guilty as them
for causing needless death and suffering. Say it isn't so.

13. Oh - I think the Dems take this all very seriously. They are stepping
out so that they will not be looking like they are using this tragedy in any way..but also enabling the rescues and the rebuilding of lives behind the scenes. They are the adults here and it is smart too to just stop being political, so they cannot be charged as being so, and Bush has to then take ownership of "what he did" by himself. No smoke screen to hide behind. Let it all hang out there. The press will have to cover the story.

I think some Dems are just fuming. As are all Americans who have any sort of empathy (some wing-nuts have had their empathy re-directed towards american myths instead of American realities so they are incapable of feeling anything for anyone who doesn't back up their world myths or any situation that does not reflect back to them "what a lovely shepherd George W. Bush is").

16. This is a BIG part of the dems problem. Being too afraid of not
looking good. Analasys paralasis. It's long past time when we need leaders to just say what needs to be said, off the cuff, from the gut. How many angles are there to this catastrophe, really. Scream from the rooftops, the emperor has no clothes.
