Wayne Madsen DISSES James Witt & Associates BIG TIME!
THEN RETRACTS!

Wayne Madsen wrote an article in where he linked James Witt & Associates to the New Orlean Disaster and in fact blames Mr. Witt's company for being a part of the problem. http://www.wittassociates.com/index.xml

It included this passage....

FEMA Outsourced New Orleans Disaster Plans
WNY Media Network - Buffalo,NY,USA
Louisiana Gov. Kathleen Blanco has announced that she is hiring Witt to assist in the hurricane recovery. Just a minute here. His firm (which includes retired Gen. Wesley Clark) was part of the IEM team that came up with the non-existent $500,000 FEMA New Orleans-Southeast Louisiana Catastrophic Hurricane Disaster Plan. Why pay this guy again for his incompetence? Republicans + Democrats = Partners in Crime.
http://www.wnymedia.net/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=45&Itemid=35

Here is the "correction" although the article is still running on several websites as was....the correction is only found on Mr. Madsen's website. He mentioned that "someone" is trying to frame Witt and Associates...like Rove, but actually, I knew that Witt and Clark had not received the contract, and if Mr. Madsen was a real journalist, he could have found this out PRIOR to writing this article.

Please note: News disinformation does not come from the right only. The Leftist extremists are also guilty of it. So please beware of Mr. Madsen and his "F-A-C-T-S"!

Corrective article http://waynemadsenreport.com/
September 4, 2005 -- WMR contacted by spokesperson for James Lee Witt. Yesterday, WMR reported that according to a June 3, 2004 press release from Innovative Emergency Management (IEM), Inc. it received a FEMA contract to develop a "Catastrophic Hurricane Disaster Plan for New Orleans & Southeast Louisiana." The IEM press release stated that among its team partners was James Lee Witt Associates. Witt was FEMA director under President Clinton and he restored that agency's disaster recovery effectiveness after President George H. W. Bush's ineffective response to Hurricane Andrew in 1992. According to Witt's spokesperson, James Lee Witt Associates continues to be fraudulently listed on IEM's web site as a team partner for the over $500,000 FEMA contract work. The IEM press release that contains the erroneous information has been disappearing and reappearing, another sign of something suspicious with IEM.

IEM, which is an 8-A minority-owned firm, apparently used Witt's name as a "buy in" ploy to lock in the FEMA contract. What is fishier is that the IEM press release was reportedly sent out before the FEMA contract was actually awarded. After IEM began the work on the FEMA contract, it never once used Witt's company and did not pay it one cent. Informed sources claim that IEM, owned by a big donor to the GOP, is notorious for not completing work after contracts are awarded. The Catastrophic Hurricane Disaster Plan for New Orleans and Southeast Louisiana was no exception. Mr. Witt is now acting as a pro bono disaster recovery adviser for Louisiana Gov. Kathleen Blanco. Witt's spokesperson was frank is stating, "you don't really think the Bush administration would have given a contract to someone who worked for Bill Clinton?" That is very true. The issue with the incomplete FEMA hurricane preparedness plan is in IEM's and its actual partners' court. James Lee Witt, likely America's most effective FEMA Director, had nothing to do with the IEM work and he now needs all the support the nation and state of Louisiana can muster as he prepares to confront America's worst natural disaster in its history. and the editor smells Karl Rove.

I say to Mr. Madsen!
"No Editor....I smell that based on your lack of professional journalistic methods, it is you who set up Mr. Witt and Gen. Clark.

Be accountable for your mistakes and try not to pass them on to someone else. We already have too much of that as it is!"--FRENCHIE CAT

2. I don't know about any of that....
Madsen got as sloppy as the corporate media by not fact-checking it all, but it could be that the IEM lied to him.

He's usually pretty thorough with his work...I think Rove or someone is trying to spin this, and IEM planted fake information on their website about James Witt. This makes sense, as it would explain why they are now smearing Witt even though he is NOT a part of IEM.....

:grr:

8. As simple phone call to those he was dissing ought to have done it
It's called FACT CHECKING.

A tool in a "journalist's" arsenal that is to be used over and over again.

Madsen should have done this PRIOR to printing the article.....not after the fact!

3. Good Catch, Ma'am!
Madsen simply makes things up: that is the long and short of it....

Much better journalism, and much better comedy, can be found in "The Onion" than in the "Madsen Report"....

13. And, his partner, General Clark not only speaks the truth,
but could possibly be a candidate for the Presidency in 2008. So, a smear now (one this serious) could also be an attempt to take him out, too.

I am writing Madsen, and telling him to get his act together. I hope all of you will, too. This is serious. He just participated in the attempted "Swift-boating" of Witt and Clark. The correction is good, but it won't take care of everything:

Tell me his uncorrected article will not resurface ad infinitum from the effing far left, should the General decide to run... And, we'll have to refute it, and provide the link, and re-tell this story.... blah, blah, blah, blah, blah... until we are blue in the face. It'll happen a thousand times! Thank God for Frenchie! LOLOL! She's got the energy and the stomach for fights like this!

10. Madsen is nothing but a sensationalist. He's the National
Enquirer of on-line reporting. The 2004 Election forum archives are full examples.

the best way to deal with him is every time you see something attributed to him:

"Oh, Wayne Madson. :eyes: "

Or a simple "not a reliable source"

17. Typical
Madsen is no journalist. I think people should actually go back an read some of the garbage he has stated as fact and see if it ever came true. He is only a journalist in the tabloid sense. He has a technique and a way of writing that sounds just like the National Enquirer.

He writes things like:

Some observers wondered,
It has been said that,
may be the tip of an iceberg
attack plan was reportedly drawn up

and he never names a source.

20. But, this is the sort of stuff Clark gets hit with again and again...
and now this is another "story" we will have to rebut, deny, re-tell, and provide the link to over and over.

It isn't fair.
