Petfinder Website now up

Pass this along everywhere

http://www.petfinder.org/disaster/

from the site:

"The Louisiana SPCA is coordinating efforts, with assistance from teams from the ASPCA and HSUS, in the New Orleans area. The American Humane Association has been designated as the Incident Command organization based at the coliseum in Lafayette, LA. Many humane societies and animal control agencies have rescue teams and equipment on stand-by, ready to replace teams as needed and bring in additional resources in a coordinated manner. Hotlines have been established with HSUS, ASPCA and LA SPCA to accept reports of animals needing to be rescued from the disaster zone. This information is being compiled into a central database and made available to the rescue agencies to coordinate rescue efforts. The out-pouring of support from the animal welfare community, our corporate partners and the public has been phenomenal. We are inundated with inquiries from the public on what they can do to help. The best way to assist in the disaster relief efforts is to make a donation to the organizations involved so that they can purchase much needed supplies and equipment for the rescue and relief efforts and provide assistance to animal welfare groups impacted by Hurricne Katrina."

1. Thanks for posting this.
We will get this information sent off through the animal rescue network. My understanding is that there are lots of animals already rescued and they are getting messages from people looking for their pets. Reunions are going to give so much hope for the future.

4. mules in NO
Yesterday someone called in on an NPR station about the mules that pull the buggy rides in NO. She said that the thought the mules were reasonably safe, and that some people had stayed with them. But she feared they were running out of feed for them, but she had no idea. It sounded like there were 20+ mules.

Anybody hear anymore about this?
