My Aunt says "It just goes to show you have to be prepared", Pro Bush rant
I wrote her and discussed the order from Blanco begging for the Pres. help before Katrina hit, and how it's amazing how for 5 days nothing was done by the gov't to help as these people died through murder, dehyrdration, medical problems, and mostly drowning in the hundreds or thousands.

Her response showed me how Bush got half the vote last time

"Well, mother nature is something we can't control. And even though there are levees they aren't a guarantee to protecting against a major hurricane. I pray for them as their needs are more important than any politics attacking the gov't. It just goes to show you that everyone should be better prepared for disasters."

Yeah, Aunt L. ------ because you ain't gonna get any f*cking help from the Gov't because the Guard is in the WRONG gulf as Rep. Kucinich said!

Amazing --- they give him a free pass on EVERYTHING.

1. I would ask her then..
what have we been paying taxes to the DHS for?

If they can't do their jobs, then they need to stop collecting money from us.

Surely, a Republican would understand that.

2. Might want to ask her how well she is currently prepared
for whatever type of natural disaster might face her region. Whether its fire, wind, rain, snow, we call got something that can be the undoing of us. Unless she has herself ready for any possibility she should STFU.

3. Her inaction is justified. They aren't americans like her.
Let's hope she never needs any help of any kind for any reason. The guilt of accepting such help might be more than she could bear.

6. An article dated August First
described the LA National Guard and materials that would be needed in the case of a major hurricane were sent to Iraq instead.

The article specifically mentioned "major hurricane". And guess what happened.

National Guard is not for deploying overseas.

8. I suspect she might change her tune if her house was on fire.
Nevertheless, this is what we are up against in this nation.

9. ugh...
She wouldn't fret about the fire, she'd just pull another 200,000 out of the bank and have it rebuilt.

Her ignorance in direct reply to the factual evidence provided her, shows this President cannot be impeached until we win back the house & Senate -

we must gather a couple people each to help us defeat the rethuglican scum poisoning our halls of congress. They look out for big oil, big insurance, and their buddies big pockets all the while stopping those damn 'ni**ers', feminists, and queers.

Never mind some of them have secret affairs with the house maid or paper boy, steal from society, and secretly hate themselves.... or something like that.

13. Well, forget the fire, then - say she's on a cruise...
and the boat is sinking. Will she change her tune when she finds she has to stand in line behind all the Fat Cats boarding the lifeboats (those are the repub rules, as I understand them today)? My, what will she have to say when she finds there aren't enough lifeboats for everyone?

14. umm,,,
I'll do my best, but I don't know about future relations with her, but with friends like that, who needs enemies, right?

I truly want to believe a large shift in public opinion will come against the repubs and they'll lose the house and senate...

visualize victory for change and giving President Bush his own fair trial!

15. The old "the poor have only themselves to blame" argument. Also, the old
and infirm. Perhaps she should pray that the Lord open her heart (and wallet) to those less fortunate than herself. Since she's gonna be prayin' and all...

And that "everyone" who should be prepared for disasters includes the fed gov't, it's the only reason FEMA exists. That's their job and they failed miserably and people died as a result.
