This is a real problem for many poor americans, especially those with chronic health conditions. Not so far-fetched that folks think you would have to pay for rescue.

And when you're poor, with no health insurance, the bill for the ambulance and even a few stitches is shockingly high. I'm not surprised at all. My wife even speculated about this earlier (we both grew up pretty poor, so we have the sensibility still, I guess).
