sounds like James Lee Witt is unofficially taking over FEMA |
|
Edited on Mon Sep-05-05 06:25 PM by blitzen
he's talking right now (on CNN Anderson Cooper) about how he and Mike Brown just met and are in synch about setting up a command and control organization that will be in place tomorrow

3. It sure does sound like that. He said he just got there Friday and was |
|
working night and day to set it up. The former Mayor was right to be angry about this just getting done. However, its not James Witts fault is wasn't done sooner. It the idiot Director Brown's.

taking over, chump." He sounds like he actually has a plan for FEMA and why it has failed.

9. Brown probably begged for advice |
|
I can see it now:
Brown: Please, help! I don't know what to do! Please, help!
Then when Witt says he will, he breathed a sigh of relief.

that's become the new mantra for FEMA, or make aid a faith based initiative, it's a goof ball theory, but what is reality based about this crew

30. Yup, shocking isn't it... |
|
Witt said that is was vital that a C&C center be set up so all agencies can coordinate their movements and can track to make sure missions were not redone and had been completed.
I was also thrilled to hear him talk about the need to contact the National Historic Society to come in an evalute the buildings that should be saved.
I breathed a sigh of relief when I heard a competant, knowledgeable official "in charge".

33. I suspect that the Bush White House is in disarray over pending |
|
Fitzgerald indictments. When the opportunity arose to loot FEMA funds, and to bring a big hunk of U.S. real esate under Bush Cartel control (the opportunity presented by the hurricane), they just didn't have their ducks in a row to do it smoothly. The P.R. was terrible--so bad (with Bush eating birthcake and all, while LA got flattened) that I started thinking somebody was actually doing Bush in (still think that's possible--a Cheney coup maybe). They had nobody but failures and crooks in charge, and they blew it. They tried to strongarm Blanco with a Fed takeover. She resisted and demanded, at the very least, competence. Thus, James Lee Witt (and Clinton at a press conference with Bush, seeming to back him up--one of the reasons I was thinking Cheney coup).
I don't know if all this will be good in the end (i.e., martial law, or whatever she may have agreed to, in compromise), but at least it restores order for the moment, which is what the victims need. Long term, it could mean that we will be ruled in the future by the U.S. military. (Honore was resisting any federalization of the Nat'l Guard. The lack of info on what they all agreed to is making me uneasy. Honore should be the one in charge; not a military general under Bush.) (Honore was saying the looting was minimal and NG's should not point their weapons at people--while Bushites played up and fomented chaos.)
The upshot (from what I gather) is that Bush delayed aid, to get his way on taking it all over--pressuring and bullying Blanco. Criminal behavior by Bush! All about greed. (Maybe his puppetmaster Cheney said, 'you get control of the loot in NO or else you go down with Libby and Rove,' so Bush was under great pressure--he looks like it--and they bought Cheney off by giving Halliburton the first contract, which will fatten his Halliburton "severance" package. Hm-m.) (But that doesn't solve his Fitzgerald problems.)

34. About time the "Grown-ups" took this disaster over. The Republicans |
|
have really messed up and are trying to wiggle out of this boo boo...... It would make me feel good except I am sick with grief for the people who died such a horrible death because of the Republican boo boo's.... some of them it seems were on purpose because the Republicans don't consider the poor, old, gay, or disabled people. They are not useful for slave labor or Cannon fodder.
