Did God fail when it come to Columbia Disaster?

Since we all know that God is the Mayor of Outer Space, he surely could have done something to prevent the Columbia Disaster, right?

And, since RW'ers all believe that it is just the fault of local and State officials when it came to Katrina, then that disaster must be God's fault.

(Sorry if this seems to be in bad taste. I just want to see how stupid all of the RW'ers memes look.)
