Oh oh, Barbara B. has done it again
Wait till you see the latest quote from Barbara Bush about the displaced hurricane victims in the Astrodome. It was just put up on the screen by Olberman.

Barbara Bush: Things Working Out "Very Well" for Poor Evacuees from New Orleans

By E&P Staff

Published: September 05, 2005 7:25 PM ET updated 8:00 PM

NEW YORK Accompanying her husband, former President George H.W.Bush, on a tour of hurricane relief centers in Houston, Barbara Bush said today, referring to the poor who had lost everything back home and evacuated, "This is working very well for them."

(snip)

In a segment at the top of the show on the surge of evacuees to the Texas city, Barbara Bush said: "Almost everyone I’ve talked to says we're going to move to Houston."

Then she added: "What I’m hearing is they all want to stay in Texas. Everyone is so overwhelmed by the hospitality.

"And so many of the people in the arena here, you know, were underprivileged anyway, so this (she chuckles slightly)--this is working very well for them."

I sometimes wonder if she isn't the murderous monster in that family, even moreso than Poppy Augutsus.

24. Oh I am sure that's exactly what they are saying to the old battle axe
Not! I saw some that were crying saying they just wanted to go home, they wanted to eat their own food. People born and raised in NOLA! want to stay in Houston Texas. :eyes: This family, the whole lot of them disgust me more then I can say. If these people knew and probably some of them do, what her spoiled rotten brat of a son did to them. she would probably need a flack jacket! Sure, you old witch, STFU!

32. Wasn't a black man dragged to his death in Texas?
(sorry-texas DU'ers, nothing at all against you).

I'm just sick and tired of her, her husband and her son trying to make Texas out to be the saviours in this situation--and it is the land of milk and honey for poor black people.

:grr:

"Living in the Astrodome is much better than they're used to." Kind of like saying people commit crimes so they can have a better life in prison, or the Guantanamo detainees are living better than they ever have.

Barbara Bush: Things Working Out "Very Well" for Poor Evacuees from New Orleans
"Accompanying her husband, former President George H.W.Bush, on a tour of hurricane relief centers in Houston, Barbara Bush said today, referring to the poor who had lost everything back home and evacuated, "This is working very well for them."

The former First Lady's remarks were aired this evening on National Public Radio's "Marketplace" program.

She was part of a group in Houston today at the Astrodome that included her husband and former President Bill Clinton, who were chosen by her son, the current president, to head fundraising efforts for the recovery. Sen. Hilary Clinton and Sen. Barack Obama were also present.

"And so many of the people in the arena here, you know, were underprivileged anyway, so this (she chuckles slightly)--this is working very well for them." "

I love Americablog's comment about it: "Oh, SO not kidding."

First Junior, with his cheesy little joke about partying in New Orleans in front of people who are DYING and a nation who was watching them die. Now, this?

WHO IS HANDLING THE PR?

28. Good God!
I know she's a plutocratic, overprivileged asshole, but for Chrissake!

Saying that about people who have lost EVERYTHING? Their homes, their jobs, their clothing, their possessions, their pets, possibly some of their loved ones? Oh yeah, they'll just LOOOOVE sleeping on those camp cots shoved cheek by jowl into the Astrodome!

How obscene that she intimates that the conditions in the Astrodome are comparable or better than they lived at home! Plenty of poor people work hard to make their homes as comfortable and pleasant as possible. The cleanest and most comfortable houses I've ever been in were those of poor people in Appalachia - some of which had DIRT FLOORS!

Oh God, my head is about to pop - I'm going back to the Katrina Help Project and log in more information to the database.
