Do you think Bush tapped Roberts for Chief Justice because he's lazy? |
|
I mean, busy with other things (Katrina)?
I do.

2. I think he didn't want to have to go through three confirmations |
|
if he had picked someone already on the Court there would be three confirmations....

3. NONSENSE! Bush tapped Roberts for Chief Justice because he's |
|
a party loyalist who will do what he's told without question. He's inner circle and can be counted on to do the parties dirty work.
Comforting qualities in a supreme court justice.
You just fall off the turnip truck? :wow:

4. Oh, for a minute I thought you were asking if Roberts was lazy |
|
which is the kind of quality Bush looks for in all his appointments.

6. This was the plan all along.. Rehnquist's death just came a bit soon.. |
|
and it could represent a window of opportunity to reject Roberts if Dems wake up and utilize it. Even by the standards of some supporters he doesn't have the experience or gravitas to be Chief Justice. Combined with the other flaws coming to light, and it a playable hand for a rejection.
Not that I expect anything like that from the opposition party.
