4. How to rake in more than smiles and upgrade the servers

There are 76,000 members. If 10,000 gave $100 to the project, that would mean $1 million. If 20,000 gave $50, that would yield the same amount. Surely there is a way to tap into this vast membership for a one-time major server upgrade. I'm willing to do my part. How about the others who rely on DU for news and a supportive community?

I read a Skinner post once where he said that number isn't that meaningful, because it includes people who signed up one day and never returned, as well as everyone who had ever been tombstoned (and he couldn't even guess how many have been TSed).
