9. It will be interesting to see the fight over casinos with Mississippi
My prediction: Donald Trump had just announced that he would be building a new hotel in New Orleans just before the hurricane hit.
I would suspect, now that New Orleans is a "blank slate", the first thing that will happen is that the Louisiana legislature will call a special session, and one of the items will be a package of "economic development" measures to lure business back to New Orleans....along with passing legislation that lets New Orleans have all the casinos it wants. Hey Donald...would you like a casino with that hotel? Our head of the Economic Development department for the state, Mike Olivier, used to be the head ED guy for Gulf Coast development in Mississippi. He was the one that started the big casino boom over there. It will be interesting to see how many of the Biloxi and Gulfport casinos he lures to New Orleans.

6. I'll bet you $20.
There will be no new oil refinery in NO.

What will survive is the French Quarter with a ring of hospitality industry around it. Call it Disneyland on testosterone (or estrogen).

Most of the city will relocate to somewhere above sea level.
