The City of Louisiana
The City of Louisiana
with apologies to the late Steve Goodman

Remembering the City of Louisiana,
Michael Chertoff and his complexion pale
Fifteen parishes and countless stupid bureaucrats,
Three federal agencies all off them up for sale.
All along the southbound odyssey
The feds pulled out of responsibility
They rolled past flooded houses, farms and fields.
Passin' poor people that have no names,
Rescue centers full of old black folk
And the graveyards of those future dreams.

CHORUS:
Good morning America how are you?
Don't you know me I'm your native son,
I'm the disaster Certoff calls The City of Louisiana,
I'll be gone five hundred years 'fore I'm remembered by none.

2. I suppose I'll be the obtuse, anal retentive guy who points out...
...that Louisiana isn't a city.

3. Err
I think El Supremo is playing off what Chertoff said:

"Louisiana is a city that is largely underwater"

:)

4. That's the point...
Chertoff said in a press conference "The city of Louisiana is under water."

6. OK. Missed that particular mangled comment
Would that it were the most mangled thing Cheroff was involved with.
