A coward is incapable of exhibiting love;
it is the prerogative of the brave

...and other selected quotes from Mohandas Karamachand Gandhi
Non-cooperation with evil is a sacred duty.

You assist an evil system most effectively by obeying its orders and decrees.
An evil system never deserves such allegiance. Allegiance to it means partaking of the evil.
A good person will resist an evil system with his or her whole soul.

Power is of two kinds. One is obtained by the fear of punishment and the
other by acts of love. Power based on love is a thousand times more
effective and permanent then the one derived from fear of punishment.

Gandhi was once asked what he thought about western civilization. His
response was: "I think it would be a good idea."

When I despair, I remember that all through history the ways of truth and love have always won. There have been tyrants, and murderers, and for a time they can seem invincible, but in the end they always fall. Think of it – always.

I remember this I think its newton's third law. for every action there is an opposite and equal reaction. If you resist evil it gives it power, if you deny it, its the same thing. But if you study it, you find it to be not true, thus it dissolves, has no power at all. there is only, you choose. Peace

Clinton haters, and I ran across your link. So funny, that the greatest of all thinkers believed that love, not thought or products of the mind, was the highest goal for humanity. This administration and the neocons (Rove in particular) favor Machiavelli (whom they misinterpret for their own evil ends, like they do everything else) who believed that fear was greater than love when governing people "But the fear of punishment never fails...".

I loved the quote about western civilization (though I'm not entirely in agreement with it...look at the caste system in India for example)

His response was: "I think it would be a good idea."
