I can't get this out of my head. |
|
Bush's words last week: about rebuilding Trent Lott's house so they can sit together on his great new porch, and how he went to New Orleans for fun in his boozing days.
What is wrong with a person, who, when faced with catastrophic damage and thousands of deaths, says such things? Is he really that stupid? Is he that self-involved? Is he a sociopath?
I'm speechless.

HOW could these people be in power? How exactly does karma work in a case like this? How does someone get to be so privileged and be so unbelievably callous and cruel at the same time?

4. This is the kind of remark... |
|
people make when they're sitting in a bar having a beer...not a president that is addressing a disaster. But...as you may recall... this is what a lot of people were looking for in a president...the ability to engaged in meaningless banter.

or not. He doesn't seem to have been taught that in his life. I mean, when you're in the midst of tragedy, you do NOT CRACK JOKES.
Oh, and you also don't nominate someone to be a Chief Justice of the Supreme Court ... On a Holiday... Before the DEAD Chief Justice's funeral. Didn't anyone tell him he ought to show some respect for the dead and at least WAIT until Rehnquist is buried?

10. still, far too many people love the man |
|
I think it's pretty obvious that Bush either (1) doesn't care at all about Katrina victims or (2) doesn't know what to do. Or both.
And all the while we've got such wonderful people like Karl Rove making sure that Bush doesn't look bad, keeping the talking points flowing to the "base" that elected him a second time.
How do you all cope with this? Seriously, I get pretty depressed about this stuff. And I've got a loudmouth neocon Bush lover at work who loves to---without prompting---defend Bush and talk about how great he is. I go out of my way to avoid political conversations with this guy, but it's like he reads my mind and feels obliged to defend our current turd president. (This guy has a Ronald Regan screensaver that I've actually seen him salute!)
And to think how many people must be in the same mindset... I'm really kind of scared.

13. The man lacks empathy... |
|
...he is a textbook psychopath.
He lacks the ability to feel what another is feeling because he shut down these feelings in himself long ago.
He is unable to experience emotion as most of us do--so the thought of someone's suffering, sadness or anger--is foreign and too complicated for him.
It makes perfect since that a psychopath would land in the middle of the worst disaster in United States history--and begin talking about his partying days and his plans to yuck it up with a rich friend.
That's what psychopaths do.
Oh yeah, and they also lie their way into wars--just so they can feel important, kill people and toy with the world. It makes them feel important.
