that the time will come for it (and we may be at the time now) but recovering the bodies and those still living first
says Mississippi took a harder beating than La - whole towns flattened
some of NO will be restored
he's pissed mostly that help did not show up after the levee broke - the calvary didn't come
will not guess the death toll
for weeks and months, they'll be going thru the attics
he is still pissed! everytime he says the word 'death' he gets a look on his face, like he is seeing it again.
my take is he is haunted by the scenes he witnessed. dp

Was hoping he'd be a little more miffed with the situation, but he's telling factual info...1 in 6 don't have cars and couldn't leave the city...buses should've been provided.

36. going back to cover the story of Katrina? |
|
or returning home for a break? I missed why.
also, after watching that interview: I have never lain eyes on Shep Smith before tonite that i recall, never watching Faux, and am only aware of his stories reported here recently. So at the beginning of the interview, when he came out, i looked at him and thought he looked like a newsguy here on our local nbc - he had the smile, looks etc of most newsmen, etc.
But from that point on, as he began talking about what he had seen, and knew, the look on his face ... that would not work on faux, or any station. There was a serious painful look on his face as he related what he has seen. No matter how Dave L tried to get him to point a finger, or define some unknown, he (Shep) kept returning to the job of recovering the dead ...and that look on his face ... inward at something he could see only ... man
that is one person is some deep psychological pain, imo.
i would bet there is a serious conversion going on inside him.
my 2 cents dp

COULD be better for the public mind...if they realized what a threat it was, why not more prep? Not that we THINKING people need to be told that by Shepherd, but I suspect Dave has a pretty large RW young male audience.

...as the NYC terrorist attack, San Fran or LA Quake, or NO hurricane. But I'm sure there's more than one list around.

while Geraldo's emotional report was touching, it wasn't surprising coming from Geraldo as he is often like that and has a past of defending the Dem side.
but Shep's response was surprising as he was (and hopefully it remainds in the past)media whore. i was expecting him to whore for Bush. i especially liked when he responded to Sean Hannity's "lets get some perspective" in a calm but clearly angry tone that "THIS IS PERSPECTIVE".
but then again this could just show who really has humanity and weed out the right wingers who you may disagree with on just about everything but still have that decentness about them.

35. Shep even proved the point that it was the feds fault |
|
He said it wasn't the hurricane but the cracking of the levee. The problem was that the actual hurricane didn't turn out as bad as some had thought so people started coming back in and going back to their homes. It's when the levees broke that all hell broke loose.
The money went elsewhere.
