How on earth was New Orleans Mayor supposed to supply food
to tens of thousands in the Super dome in less than 24 hours with the city evacuating and the roads bumper to bumper? Did people expect the local police to raid the local restaurants and stores and deliver 20 truck loads of food before the storm hit? Why is this criticism even entertained as reasonable?

1. I would have.
I apologize to libertarians here, but if that was an option, I *would* have.

4. It would of been impossible to feed that many people.............
in 24 hours when your just a mayor. Iam giving the mayor a pass on this, IT WAS way OVER HIS ABILITY to deal with this IMHO.

5. Like I said, "if that was an option"
Was it? Probably not. And you can say all you want the mayor doesn't have that power... someone does. If you can commandeer a vehicle, you can commandeer a cheese sandwich. Hue and cry, people. Hue and cry.

6. FEMA knew they were being evacuated their. They should have taken over
FEMA should have been gearing up to deliver food their and had a plan. FEMA is the only agency equipped and large enough to handle such major food relief on such short notice. It took them almost a week to get food their. Even if the Mayor did get them one or two days supply of food and water they would have still needed FEMA after that food ran out.

2. Uncle Karl says it's all Nagin's fault.
And if not enough people buy that meme, then it'll be Blanco's fault.

And if not enough people fall for that one, then we'll blame Senator Landrieu.

Or maybe Bush will hit the trifecta and we'll blame all three!!!! (Thereby diverting where the true blame lies - with our supposed Commander-in-chief.)

7. What every person seems to be ignoring...
Is that any and all hurricane plands for NO used the SuperDome as a 24 hour "pit stop". Every single emergency plan used the dome as a temporary hold for a day, after which the residents would go back home.

By Tuesday, there were no homes to go back to.

8. Absolutely
If the Mayor had supplied a weeks worth of food and the storm missed NO he would have been blasted for getting all that food. They only learned the storm had become a class 5 storm and could devastate the city the day before it hit.

9. I think it was Mississippi who did just that.

Cops went into a food store and took what the people needed and distributed it. I think it was Mississppi, I may be wrong. I saw it on the tele.
