I saw this note at the National Catholic Reporter online site
Attention NCR subscribers The U.S. Postal Service has asked that mailings be suspended to certain zip codes in parts of Alabama, Louisiana and Mississippi affected by the Hurricane Katrina. Therefore, NCR won't mail issues of the newspaper to subscribers in those areas for the time being.

4. Where is the important mail going? Is this anything like the study.... |
|
...commissioned by the Postal Service to figure out how to deliver the mail following a nuclear war?
Are the local post offices in Mississippi functioning? How about the regional USPS facilities in that state?
Let's see if I have this straight...Mississippi's power and telephone infrastructure is destroyed, but nothing will stop the delivery of the US Mail. Is that about right?

3. PO "cancels mail delivery in certain locations" should be |
|
your title. I mailed stuff last Thursday and certain zip codes weren't taking mail because there were no homes left. On the other hand, the AstroDome in TX has created a zip code for all displaced people. Also, medical prescription paperwork problems have been lifted supposedly. If you are displaced from Katrina, you're eligible for what you need.

The delivery locations have been changed and makeshift delivery offices are being set up where none previously existed. The mail delivery is not cancelled.
