3. I wonder if we actually get *more* dupes and added posts with level 3...

It seems there's less ability to try and find an existing thread on a topic, and people tend to all chime in and post the same thing, making a mound of clutter, and no way to search through it either. People may post more in different threads on certain topics, so that they can feel heard, magnifying the problem.

It seems like a way of leaving search functionality (and perhaps listing one's former posts) should be left in to avoid the excess clutter. I feel during this time, we also tend to get more "knee jerk" posts instead of many people trying to participate in a few larger posts which grow in depth and sophistication over time as more become a part of those conversations. I think not only does that lead for more volume of crap (mind you, I think many people have well-meaning and good content in their posts, but tend to post more AIM-style conversations in order to be heard than well thought out messages that they post fewer of), but while this happens a lot of other important (but perhaps not as talked about issues, like those now currently related to impeachment, or side issues for supreme court justice nomination, etc.) may be being ignored now as a result. Kinda too bad.

I aplaud DU for trying to take measures to keep DU responsive and available during peak usage, but I'm wondering if some tweaking could be done to make it better and continue to serve as the alternate idea-generating sounding board that it has been so good at otherwise during busy times.
