So New Orleans was # 3 on the list of potential disasters. What are |
|
the other city's and what is being done to make sure they don't see the same fate as New Orleans?

2. Me either. I'm in L.A. and getting my emergency supplies |
|
stocked with a little bit of stuff for me and a whole lot of dog and cat food. If I get stuck for 7 days in this house with 3 hungry cats I will just go insane listening to them.

4. I've been looking up prices on MRE and water packs. |

Savannah, where i live could easily meet a similar fate to NOLA with a direct hit of of hurricane. But I'd like to think I'd get out before it hit.
Box 1: 10 days worth of water Box 2: 10 days worth of food Box 3: case of ammo and a .45
and a bag of clothes.

6. I believe LA, SF, Seattle all subject to the same earthquake risk. |
|
Although Seattle is due for a 9+, from our subduction zone proximity. And they say Mt. Rainier is due anytime as well. Sigh. It is a beautiful area.

12. We had Mt. St. Helens in 1980 |
|
and we have other volcanoes that could erupt. Then Oregon has volcanoes as does California.
Mr. Rainier's eruption could devastate the whole region.
And yes, the really big earthquake has been predicted to hit anytime.
Katrina was very big -- and we need to focus on what we can do to help -- including getting bush tossed into jail.
BUT let us not forget that we have got to demand that the Federal Government is prepared for the next big disaster -- even if it doesn't happen this year or the next -- or even for the next 10 years. . .
With Global warming I am afraid that the next really major disaster will be sooner than later.

and make it 14 days (just buy a little extra over the next few weeks) and get the pet carriers out of storage.
We now know we can't depend on the federal government for any help.

The San Andreas is just on the other side of the mountain I see out my front window (Mt. San Antonia, 20 mi away). We get tremblers all the time here. Just sittin' around waiting for the big one. The last big one was a few years ago (7.2) and shook us a bit for almost half a minute. Scary.
My wife bought cases of bottled water yesterday. We are socking them away along with other provisions. With Chimpy in the White House, we aren't going to take any chances.

14. Eugene is red? Doubtful. |
|
There's a mix like most states...that's why they say most states are purple. But I would hardly say Portland is the only blue area of the state. You might need to get out more.
