We need to have a plan in place in the event that the internet becomes..
unavailable.

I know it "can't happen" and it "won't happen", but after this week I have an overwhelming feeling that anything is possible.

What would we do if DU or other parts of the internet suddenly became inaccessible? How would we organize and share information?

1. What do you mean by internet ?
No really,
If you mean the WWW (world wide web ) then we go Old school BBS (Bulletin Board Systems) for the unfamiliar it's like private servers that you have to dial in or telnet into . However we may need to set up a real underground system that uses the post and coded speech I don't really know man we my really need something soon!

5. I really think that the possibility of internet censorship exists.
I don't know that bbs's would be any safer, but it's a possibility. Microsoft develops a lot of the Chinese programs. I doubt they would think twice about working with our government.

3. we need phone trees. I am SO on this.
but the trees must be under the radar, and they must be based on physical locality and face to face networking. I want to know with whom I'm entrusting my life and make sure I don't have a lurking freeper on my list. The whole country of DUers could be connected by a massive network of face to face and phone contacts. I suggest starting in your local area meetups, among your most trusted friends. Each person wants 4 local people on their list plus a 5th who is out of the area, something like that. It could be done.

4. I thought something along those lines, too..
But even this system would have serious limitations.

6. Ham radio/shortwave radio and pirate radio stations
I've been seriously considering getting a "ham" and learning how to use it. Also, there are several "pirate" radio stations I know of and we need to have more around the country and learning how to get a hold of them in the event of a disaster or that the "internet" was to somehow become unavailable.

Who knows in the future what our only means of communications will become...

12. So, because you use the internet
does that imply you are brainwashed?
