Russert is blasting the Coward on Imus now.
Well, he's not blasting him directly, but he is shredding all the excuses that the Coward and his lapdogs have been spewing.

Russert is pissed. His key point is "Does any American really believe we are safer now? After Katrina?" He asks, where were the command and control? Where were the communications? That we supposedly have been building for the last four years.

Imus is pissed too, even though he is woefully uninformed about what happened.

and it wasn't until Fri/Sat that they were about to take control away from the Pentagon and put it with the National Guard.

this event for Bush. The pictures and the stories are too damning.

If Russert could, he would, but even he cannot. They are already complicit in covering up Bush's other failures, incompetences, and criminal acts.

The FACTS, however, ARE catching up to the media and proving them to be complicit in the cover ups. Katrina showed them a criminal incompetence that cannot be spun.

these are guys who normally would be somewhat apathetic about politics - vote Rep or Dem because their parents do. All but one was just totally trashing the federal govt over the Katrina response. The lone holdout was giving the usual RW crap about the people not evacuating when they were supposed to, et al. No one was buying it, so he shut up. It was great!

39. i am sorry but russert is responsible in many ways,..for all these deaths!
this filthy pig now wants forgiveness..well he can rot in hell...he never asked tough questions on 9/11, he never asked tough questions on the war and wmd, he never asked tough questions on dsm, he never asked tough questions on jessica lynch, ot pat tillman, he never asked one valid question about anything,..and under our constitution , when he uses our airways for his fortune..he has that responsibility...

and if his boss says no..well then he needed to get up and walk off the set and go to black...

because that is his responsibility..
so what now they want to run and hide from their part in the murder of 10,000 in new orleans...well they have a hell o alot more than that 10,000..they are responsible for over 100,000 iraqis, and 1,900 dead ameriican soldiers...

that was their responsibility..period the end,.that was his job and he failed miserably!

so now he wants absolution?? why???? because he knows he is going to be exposed as a fraud..

why?? because now he is having nightmares of the blood on his hands???

because folks he does have blood on his hands..in fact he is up to his eyeballs in blood!!

i just wonder why it took so long for him to have sleepless nights or problems looking in the mirror at himself...

i for one hope he cokes on this blood ..and the blood of those he lied to their deaths!

i hope russert never has another moment of peace in his life...
because he is as responsible as pulling a trigger on the innocent lives that were extinguished because of his filthy lies!

its accountability time folks..not just for the * cabal...but for each and every stinking one of the media and those who stood by and allowed this administration to kill so many..and take so many innocent lives for greed!

i hope , on the streets of ny , i walk into some of them..so i can call them what they are..murderers!! i would love to look each of these media guys in the eye, and tell them i "know" they are responsible for the murder of thousands upon thousands of innocent people!

and remember when russert leaves this earth, he will not take his millions..and he will face those he sat by and allowed to be murderered in the name of money and greed!

45. Thanks for the link. My message to Russert:
Dear Mr. Russert-
I thoroughly enjoyed your program last Sunday. Please keep up the excellent work. I am an elementary school teacher who sees many parallels between the failure of No Child Left Behind and the failure in Iraq, between inadequate funding of education and of disaster preparedness. This is an utterly reckless administration which threatens to completely dismantle public education, and the integrity, strength and reputation of the U.S.A.

26. Imus: "the blame for this rests right in the oval office"
several times, right in a row, Imus said bush was to blame for failing to react in time and Russert NEVER agreed (or disagreed) with him ... Russert droned on about needing a commission and "trying to determine who should be held accountable whether it was the mayor, the governor or the president" ...

the base post is wrong ... Russert "mealy mouthed" his way through the interview and NEVER put the blame squarely on bush ... what Russert did say was that Homeland Security failed the nation and that the response was totally inadequate ...

Imus couldn't have been clearer: "the blame for this rests right in the oval office" ...

28. Not interested in blame ...
...

Blame is just shame. We're interested in RESPONSIBILITY!!!!

George is reponsible for those who died AFTER the hurricane past. The mayor and governor BEGGED AND PLEADED for assistance. The president was INTENTIONALLY sequestered out of political spite so the could claim the president wasn't asked for help.

This administration MURDERED thousands of Americans out of SPITE that they dared vote Democratic. While the Mayor of New Orleans was unable to reach the president, Haley Barbour spooke to the president THREE TIMES IN ONE DAY (He obviously hadn't received the gameplan)!!!!

I'm going to keep saying this until people start repeating it. The 2006 should be transformed into a national RECALL BY IMPEACHMENT election. Democrats must FORCE Republicans to repudiate the President (as they cannot since they are all nationally funded) and his fucked up preparedness. This country is NOT SAFE with GW Bush at the helm. He has murdered THOUSANDS out of spite and will murder more if given the chance.

Remember that there were REPUBLICANS in New Orleans and Louisiana as well. Just think of all those red districts tucked away in the subarbs of blue cities like Chicago and Los Angleles (even Indianapolis). And be aware that if a disaster strikes you metropolitan area, the President will REFUSE you help because the mayor of your metro is a Democrat.

If an hits San Francisco during Dubaya's watch, I wouldn't be surprised if Bush wouldn't send bombers with napalm to (stop the fires). Killing queers would certainly play well to his base of fascist murdering thugs. No doubt they would want to level Castro street so they could "rebuild" after declaring private imminent domain on the properties.

Democrats ... get some balls or get out of the game. They hit you with the recall election in California. Strike back with a NATIONWIDE recall election aimed to overthrow Republican zombies in the House of Representatives unwilling to do what OBVIOUSLY needs to be done at this point ... IMPEACH THE PRESIDENT FOR RECKLESS HOMICIDE!!!!

33. I think this is the first glimpse that anyone has had of Russert talking
truth to power.

It seems that Katrina was the proverbial straw, and as Bill Maher said, that because of her, we now have our press back. I pray to goddess/god that Tim, Anderson, Tucker, Shep, Aaron, Soledad and others that have had to been reminded very rudely why they became reporters/jouralists, will never lose their moral centers again. I sincerely hope that they will never let calls from Karl Rove make them waiver in finally providing us the truth. Although the ones who have been on the ground in the Gulf have seen horrors, I know that they will eventually sleep more soundly at night.

40. Russert - each week you wonder which "journalist" will show up for MTP
Here's my letter to MTP - I don't expect an answer.

Producer/Russert -

I was wondering when Meet The Press and Tim Russert was going to finally wake up and realize that this country needs, no, demands our own "Greatest Generation" right now. (Could Big Russ honestly be proud of the job you have been doing? If he is, he shouldn't be - you've let the entire nation down.) We have endured people posing as journalists for this White House when actually they were nothing more than people who craved access and corporate profits more than truth. I hope you are ashamed. You should be truly, completely, forever ashamed for your part in this mess.

Bush and his administration have taken this country, with the acquiescence of the media, on a destructive path for the last four and half years. Meet the Press, up until 2000, was regarded as a shining example of asking truth to power. Somewhere along the way you guys have rolled over and played dead for this White House. Do you own that much stock in GE? Is money that important?

Finally, FINALLY (!?) you get your panties in a wad and it only took 10,000+ deaths and billions of dollars of destruction to wake you up! It is about damn time that Russert start acting like a journalist. We don't have the "luxury" of waiting three years for another corrupt election to try and correct the course of this country. Now that you have found your backbone, Tim, don’t give it away again.

This country is hurting due to horrible, elitist policies. People are dying, losing jobs, and slowing sinking into an abyss of political corruptness and ineptness. This is what you expect of Bush and his cabal of thugs - but you - YOU - helped them by spewing the Norquist talking points as if they were truth and not the political spittle that they are. You aided and abetted Rove and that is unforgivable. You have blood on you hands just as surely as if you flew a plane into a building. Your methods are different but just as rife with misguided ideology as those 19 hijackers.

So, what do you do now? Go back to being a lackey for Bush or a journalist? Your call.

I was not impressed with how Russert handled the follow-up on Mr. Broussard, when he told the story about the mother at the nursing home that drowned after a week of begging her son to come get her. But maybe that was Tim's wake-up call...
