When you do the same thing over and over, expecting different results,.... |
|
it is called insanity. America is clinically insane. We see what policies our leaders push and we see the results of those policies. Cut taxes. Spend less on infrastructure and programs to help people. Sing the praises of the free market and free trade. Speak of freedom even as the chains slam shut around your ankles.
And now we have a disaster of such magnitude, we have to re-evaluate why this happened and if we could have done something differently. We are told there was nothing that anyone could have done to prevent it. Some people are trying to play politics with this disaster, they say. So we ignore the writing on the wall, waiting for the next disaster. Is that not insanity?

1. One thing that could've prevented the flood was... |
|
...putting the proper funding into rebuilding the levee infrastructure. We now know the Bush admin cut that funding dramatically and even FIRED the ACOE chief when he criticized them for it.
Anyone who defends the Bush admin and its fiscal actions is a fucking MORAN!

2. It is for this reason.. |
|
that, should the GOP retain control of Congress in 2006, I will actively begin to root for things to go for shit. I will shop at China Mart and encourage others to do so, further exacerbating the problem. I will not buy more than what I need, instead paying-off my debts ASAP (hell, I'd do that anyway). I will grin every time gas prices go up. When unemployment figures rise, I will smile and say 'I told you so.' When countries overseas convert their petrodollars to petroeuros, causing a deep recession, I'll dance a little jig.
I'm at the point where my pity for this county is nearly exhausted. It probably sounds selfish, and I probably sound like an asshole for saying so, but I'm being honest here. If it takes another damn Great Depression, I say bring it on again. Let's get it over with.

3. IMO: Most Americans are |

'Stuck on stupid'; and those that aren't are 'stuck in stupid'.
Hopefully, after watching 'Escape from NO LA', most Americans will find a way to get themselves unstuck. That's my plan anyway.
