Rumored deliberate St. Bernard levee breach - any photos/maps of NO? |
|
I'd like to see the entire area to help me understand what may have happened. Somebody on another thread stated that if one knew the layout of the area it would be clear this couldn't happen. Can anybody post a picture?

4. I'm just trying to better understand if the rumor has any validity. |

Do you have a problem with gathering data and facts?

5. I think I was the one that said that. Let me amend what I said... |
|
if they are talking about making a breach in a canal levee in St. Bernard, this MIGHT make sense. At the time I wrote the original post, I was thinking they meant breaches in the river levee...plus, the reference to Plaquemines Parish is confusing.

9. What I'm trying to understand is if St. Bernard was sacrificed to save |

the French Quarter. FEMA cut communications lines in St. Bernard about the same time the levee was breached. This makes me very suspicious.

how long did they keep Rehnquist's body on ice so they could use him as a distraction?
Or did they kill him specifically for this occasion?
I've heard both versions so I'm confused. :banghead:

6. What The Poster Said There, Ma'am |
|
Is that some people were saying a levee had been breached to dry out the French Quarter, and that that made no sense given the topography. Breaching the levees in certain points once the flooding has occured is a recognized and reasonable way to provide drainage, and save pumping effort in future. In the enclosed bowl, the water level may become higher than it is in some adjacent area, and a breach to let it out helps.

also asked Clinton at the end of yesterday's news conference what he knew about the rumors of the levee purposely being breached. So there may be some validity to this rumor and not so much tinfoil.

16. They were supposed to breach the St. Bernard levee |
|
I believe they did it on Saturday, probably after they closed the 17th St. Levee. The St. Bernard, if I am correct is on the river side and would allow the water to flow into the river and out to sea. From the looks of it the breach was successful and the pumps are coming back on line so I think they will drain NO in a lot less then 8 weeks, which is what HS/FEMA would like us to believe.

The St. Bernard levee break should be the subject of an intense investigation.

17. Actually, I remember hearing discussions on wwl.com and here |
|
...talking about one of the mayors discussing needing explosives to blow the levee to aid in the dewatering in different areas...
I believe this was also proposed by the ACOE as a solution, since even when the 17th street canal was(is) fixed, the pumping station will still be underwater. Now, it was my understanding it was PROPOSED, but that the mayors and presidents of the parishes said 'whoas, lets back off'...
