Could Bush's kissy-poo-huggy-poo "charm" be working?
First let me say that I hope to God what I'm sensing is wrong!...BUT...
It wouldn't surprise me to see Georgie boy come out of this mess looking pretty good....Since he started making appearances in the disaster zone, he has been full throttle huggy-poo-kissy-poo....Every time he is with a group of victims he manages to gather them in his arms and hug and kiss and pat them comfortingly....Every time he opens his mouth to speak (and there's always a camera there) he drones on about how heart-broken he is about what happened...and he's going to get to the bottom of what happened and make it right!...I know that most DUers have never been fooled by his "compassionate" act, but those who have been might be taken in again by his current display....Especially since the Republican slime machine is doing their best to make Governor Blanco and Mayor Nagin the scapegoats. I don't even think the sheeple will be effected by Barbara Bush's clearly racist statement... "What I'm hearing, which is sort of scary, is they all want to stay in Texas. Everyone is so overwhelmed by the hospitality," she said during a radio interview with the American Public Media program "Marketplace." "And so many of the people in the arena here, you know, were underprivileged anyway, so this is working very well for them.".....I pray I'm wrong, but I have a feeling....
:scared:

2. I hate it
And I hate to say this but I think fuckhead will get away with this. He's making up for the slow response and people are gonna buy it. I'm disgusted.

8. why? because you, me and a hundred other people watched keith?
come on....virtually no one watches MSNBC...then the numbers start to crumble when you look at individual shows.
We better stay sober....Bush will come out of this with little or no political ramifications. But we do have large fights to come.

5. I'm thinking Bush has an uphill battle

on his hands. Even with the sudden lovey-love, Mississippi-on-my-mind attitude, he's still got the press to contend with--people who were first-hand witnesses to the disaster and the administration's lies that accompanied it. Yesterday, I actually heard a reporter on CNN call one of Bush's appearances on Monday a "carefully orchestrated" event. That's the first time in a looooong time I've heard a MSM reporter cutting through the Bush PR machine...

7. Waaaaay too little and faaaaaar too late
Because if Junior does something like this NOW, then he could easily have done it DAYS ago. And people know that. All the hugging in the world won't resurrect the dead. And the individual stories of evacuees are starting to come out. The photo-ops will become even more obvious after that.

9. yeah -- every time I turn on the tube, there he is ...
... with some hapless person in his clutches. He's also taken to wearing what I call his "huggin'" shirt -- the expendable baggy blue one, so he can avoid getting it dirtied with tears when he squeezes some shocked evacuee to his breast. (Oops, I said "breast" -- now I'll be in trouble like Garrison Keillor.)

We all know that the words Bush is spouting are a cut-and-paste of earlier speeches, with a couple of "compassions" thrown in to glue it together. But, as you say, glarius -- people who haven't been paying attention all this time might just see him as "doing what's expected", and let it go on by.
