CNN saying that those who refuse rescue will get no food or water?
Edited on Tue Sep-06-05 12:04 PM by DeepModem Mom
Anybody else watching? Is this what they're saying, and is this the policy?

On edit: This is not a story. I think they're just noting it, as they report on rescue efforts in NO.

1. This is true. They want everyone out. Then they can arrange to
steal the properties from the owners and remake it a predominately white rich town. The NOLA as we knew it is dead.

No more Jazz funerals
No more Mardi Gras Indians.

2. After the seige when they've given up, they can go to a FEMA
camp in Utah and sit behind barbed wire to await a miliatary tribunal as an enemy combatant.

9. May I offer a different take?
Now, I understand why these people wouldn't want to leave -- they don't want to leave their homes, they are probably afraid of what many on DU have suggested -- that the properties would be seized, etc. And I don't think those suggesting that are off base.

However, given the fact that the water is a poisonous stew of everything imaginable and unimaginable, given that there are reports of dysentery and cholera, might the reason be that the mayor wants people out is that he does not want any more people to die needlessly? That he is not interested in grabbing property, but that he wants to save as many people as he can?

Just a suggestion....

11. Apparently the Mayor is denying this
This is one last desperate attempt by BushCo to try to convince the world that New Orleans is inhabitable so they can achieve their real goal of stealing New Orleans from the people of New Orleans. Good to see their scheme isn't working. We won't get fooled again.

13. Well, I'm glad that this is not the case.
I did hear this on the AP news just before I saw it posted on DU.

I have a feeling that BushCo has run into the immovable object in NOLA and other affected areas. People aren't often too fond of just leaving their homes (including their cities). Thanks.

and dehydrate them. Compassionate Conservatism at work. Animals. Animals. Animals.

The report I saw was with Soledad and some guy from FEMA? HS? or NG? and HE is the one who said that was their plan. Maybe Nagin wasn't informed of what they're planning on doing?
