Please Answer These Questions
Edited on Tue Sep-06-05 12:23 PM by MrScorpio
Fact: 500,000 people are being taken from NO and are being spread around the country

Who will represent them?

What will the congresspeople who lose their constituents maintain their ties to the citzens in their districts?

Who will vote in those elections?

How will the citizens reclassified as refugees regain their full rights again, instead of being wards of the federal government?

How many southern people will die because they're not acclimated to the weather in northern tier states?

Who will move into NO if and when its eventually rebuilt?

How long will the poor stay in armed refugee camps around the country, unable to leave on their own accord?

How many members of Congress know what the hell is going on and will do something about it?

How will we ever get America back?

2. OK.
1. The districts they move to, obviously. Just because you don't vote in the district in which you live, doesn't mean that you are not entitled to representation.

2. If you mean "how," if they are SMART (I know, I know, they are elected officials...), they will follow their constituents, and follow their constituents concerns EVEN CLOSER.

3. Forgive me, but BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAhahahahahahaaaaa...hee...heh..heh. Forgive me again, but why should this matter, since the very people who have been eveacuated were those disenfranchised who saw their votes and voting rights marginalised in 2000 and 2004. I would suppose that if they are still registered in their districts, they maintain the right to elect their district's representatives. Vote by proxy, by mail, by absentee ballot.

4. They are only classified as "refugees" by FEMA. Since they are still US citizens, they retain the same rights guaranteed to them under the Constitution as any other US citizen.

5. Not many. I can't say "none," for certain, but as close to "none" as you can get...I haven't heard of any being evacuated any farther north than Tennesee, and I WOULD HOPE that those elderly and infirm who are in the greatest need and at greatest risk would be maintained in hospitals, hospices, etc., IN SOUTHERN CLIMATES.

6. Rich White Folk, OBVIOUSLY. Who else will be able to afford it?

7. For exactly as long as the people of the US let the government get away with it. Enough outrage will eventually forse them to loosen the chains - a few wrongful deaths will do it sooner, rather than later, howedver.

8. I've only sent a list of horrors to Ackerman, Bishop, Crowley, Engel, Boehlert, Fossella, Higgins, Hinchey, Israel, Kelly, King, Kuhl Jr, Lowey, Maloney, McCarthy, McHugh, McNulty, Meeks, Nadler, Owens, Rangel, Reynolds, Serrano, Slaughter, Sweeney, Towns, Velasquez, Walsh and Weiner. They are all from NY state. I would suggest a writing campaign may be in order.

9. Easy. First we get the Senate back in 2006, then the Congress and Presidency in 2008. I am an idea man - don't bother me with the details.

I can understand how many of these answers will seem flip to you, but this has only been an attempt to show you that all is not lost. The ReThuglican Party can only rule through greed, fear and corruption - these things can never hope to last in any honest nation. Have faith in the American people - they may be slow to rouse, but once it truly begins, the results will astonish even the most pessimistic.
