"We create our own reality" |
|
"And frankly, we just don't care about the truth. It's irrelevant. The Truth is what we say it is. The only reason we put ANY PR out there is to keep enough people asleep so we can appear to have some popular legitimacy. 40% hate our guts ? 50% ? More ? We don't care. For after all,you are all just THINGS to us. Your job is to fulfill OUR desires. Your suffering is of less importance to us than a round of golf. And when you are no longer useful, it's off to the glue factory for you. Once things are completely in place, we won't even have to pretend any more."

1. This quote is similar to a real one. |
|
Your quote appears to be a sarcastic fictional quote....but a real one exists just like it from a neocon talking a couple of years ago. Wish I had kept it. Maybe someone can chime in.

3. you are thinking of the quote about reality-based community |
|
it was in the Ron Suskind article called "Without a Doubt" that ran in the NYT magazine, it's archived, I don't have the link on hand but just google Suskind and "without a doubt"

4. Chiming in with the Neocon quote... |
|
Ron Suskind, former Wall Street Journal reporter and author of "The Price of Loyalty: George W. Bush, the White House, and the Education of Paul O'Neill:, had a piece in the New York Times Magazine -- that's where the quote comes from. (Bolded below)
"In the summer of 2002, after I had written an article in Esquire that the White House didn't like about Bush's former communications director, Karen Hughes, I had a meeting with a senior adviser to Bush. He expressed the White House's displeasure, and then he told me something that at the time I didn't fully comprehend – but which I now believe gets to the very heart of the Bush presidency.
The aide said that guys like me were 'in what we call the reality-based community,' which he defined as people who 'believe that solutions emerge from your judicious study of discernible reality.' I nodded and murmured something about enlightenment principles and empiricism. He cut me off. 'That's not the way the world really works anymore,' he continued. 'We're an empire now, and when we act, we create our own reality. And while you're studying that reality – judiciously, as you will – we'll act again, creating other new realities, which you can study too, and that's how things will sort out. We're history's actors . . . and you, all of you, will be left to just study what we do.'"

6. yah...unfortunately, they also create *our* reality. |
|
Like when a public park, for instance, is turned into a war zone by the cops during a peaceful and lawful protest...
Or when a million harmless junkies became criminals overnight, by act of Congress...
Or when a natural disaster becomes a horrible object lesson in Social Darwinism (or if you prefer, institutional racism)
Neo-cons, fascists, whatever...the assholes with the guns always force *their* reality on the rest of us.
