bwah-ha-ha! Freeper SUV-owning neighbor is trying to boycott gas stations
Here's the e-mail she sent me. I sent her one back that there's supposed to be laws outlawing gouging. I've been telling her for a year now that she had better get rid of that gas-guzzler. She now finally wants to get rid of it.... I'd love to see her try to do that.

By now you're probably thinking gasoline priced at about $1.50 is super cheap. Me too! It is currently $2.75 for regular unleaded in my town. Now that the oil companies and the OPEC nations have conditioned us to think that the cost of a gallon of gas is CHEAP at $1.50-$1.75, we need to take aggressive action to teach them that BUYERS control the marketplace.... not sellers.

The only way we are going to see the price of gas come down is if we
hit someone in the pocketbook by not purchasing their gas! And we can do that WITHOUT hurting ourselves. How? Since we all rely on our cars, we can't just stop buying gas. But we CAN have an impact on gas prices if we all act together to force a price war. Here's the idea: For the rest of this year, DON"T purchase ANY gasoline from the two biggest companies (which now are one), EXXON and MOBIL. If they are not selling any gas, they will be inclined to reduce their prices. If they reduce their prices, the other companies will have to follow suit.

But to have an impact, we need to reach literally millions of Exxon and Mobil gas buyers. It's really simple to do!! Now, don't whimp (sic) out on me at this point... keep reading and I'll explain how simple it is to reach millions of people!! I am sending this note to about thirty people. If each of you send it to at least ten more (30 x 10 = 300)... and those 300 send it to at least ten more (300 x 10 = 3,000) .. and so on, by the time the message reaches the sixth generation of people, we will have reached over THREE MILLION consumers! If those three million get excited and pass this on to ten friends each, then 30 million people will have been contacted!

If it goes one level further, you guessed it..... THREE HUNDRED MILLION PEOPLE!!!
Again, all you have to do is send this to 10 people and DON"T purchase ANY gasoline from EXXON and MOBIL. That's all. (If you don't understand how we can reach 300 million and all you have to do is send this to 10 people.... well, let's face it, you just aren't a mathematician. But I am... so trust me on this one.)

How long would all that take? If each of us sends this email out to ten more people within one day of receipt, all 300 MILLION people could conceivably be contacted within the next 8 days!!! I'll bet you didn't think you and I had that much potential, did you! Acting together we can make a difference.

Buying there pretty much screws Bush and his oil buddies.

13. Citgo is Venezuelan oil.
Sticks it to Bush for calling Hugo Chavez a terrorist.

If Shell is Blue, that's good stuff.

In my part of the country, we have no Exxon, no Shell.

We have Citgo (at 7-11s), Diamond Shamrock and Conocos.

Conoco is consistently 10-14 cents more expensive than the rest of the city, including the one next door to the Conoco. Dumbasses.

14. Because the money goes to the Venezuelan government...
and they actually use it to help their people (building infrastructure, schools, etc).

Supporting Chavez, in other words, which the neocons can't STAND.

22. Shell Blue?
Not according to www.Buyblue.org. If by blue you mean their donations to Repubs are less ($10K-$100K) than Exxon or Chevron ($300K +), but they are still deep red. Of course I suppose it's better than supporting the behemoths if that is your only choice.

Nearly all of the gas companies are red. According to www.Buyblue.org, only HESS is blue, and 98% blue at that, making HESS a real good buy.

I also believe I saw somewhere that Sunoco was fairly balanced, about 50/50 to each party. Unfortunately, I can't find any evidence supporting that, and Buyblue.org doesn't list them at all.

If you can show me evidence that Shell is blue, I'd certainly like to see it as their prices were lowest in my area ($3.05/g vs. $3.19-$3.39/g for others--if $3.05 can be considered low!)

thanks for the tip. I don't think there are any citgos around here.

Good to know Hess is Blue. When I was visiting my parents in Philly last month I filled up there often!

3. I got that email too, and it originated from my GOP derivatives trader
buddy. LOL.

The funniest part is that it asks you to shop at CITGO, since they get zero Middle Eastern oil! Someone should tell them that CITGO is run by their "socialist dictator" enemy...

Tough enough to get three people to agree to something.

She proposes YET another USELESS Chain letter.

Three Hundred Million People: just about the entire population of the US. Considerably more than the number of Internet accounts held by gas-purchasing adults in the this country.

But she's a mathematician. Uh-Huh. I give her a C- for this one.

PS: she's no economist either; she flunked the quiz on 'supply and demand' and 'equilibrium point'.

6. I suppose . . .
I suppose for the freepers mass transit (Creeping Socialism!) or personal-powered transportation (You wanna take away my SUV!) are out of the question.

A foreign policy of "kick their ass and steal their gas" didn't work out quite the way the knuckleheads expected, did it? How could any such macho posturing possibly leave them behind???

10. I got that e-mail today as well from a friend who is not a freeper and
does not own or drive an SUV.

I e-mailed back and told her "months ago I told you to buy your gas at Citgo, why didn't you listen to me"?

She's a great person and despises Bush as much as I do, but she lives in a real red area in northern Will County, IL and has lots of freeper type neighbors.

One thing I did notice while out today, the BP stations here in the southwestern suburbs of Chicago seem to have the lowest prices. Regular unleaded is selling for $2.99 a gallon. Everyone else is at $3.05 or higher. Kinda interesting, huh...

but it does indicate that you may wish to reconsider your choice of vehicles or lifestyle.

I'm sure I will now be flamed by dozens of people defending their ecologically harmful, gasguzzling rollover deathtraps as their right as Americans after they have worked so hard, blah blah blah. But you NEED it, right? You can't live without it!

Ugh.

30. No flame from me.
I'm witcha on this one.

Gas-Guzzling wasteful symbols of everything that's WRONG with our "Murkan Kulchoor"....

I drove Sedans and Coupes in Midwest winters for 30 years before they "invented" the UAV and sold us a bill of goods about how we'd all DIE if we tried to drive through snow in anything less.

27. Freepers are always with these boycots and anti-peace
things. Nothing ever comes from any of it. Since they take a hard pro-government/republican line, their views are normally supported by the powerful establishment, so they typically get their way by default. It is always funny to see a "grass roots" freeper deal fall flat on it's ass because they have no experience with "grass roots".

29. Funniest part is, they won't blame Bush
Notice that they never get around to blaming Bush? The FReepers, I mean. I've heard lots of them bitch and moan, but their boy Bush is just "doing the best he can" because its "hard work".

And, the other thing here that makes me LOL:

I know a lot of people now who would kill for 2.75 a gallon gas. Its gone up that much since this email was created.

Disgusting.

But hilarious, in that cynical sort of way.
