Blitzer asks why fires not fought with the huge water planes |
|
He asked this of Lt. Gov. Landrieu. Landrieu repsonded that they patched together what is available and are working ont he various fires.
Good question from Blitzer! So, okay - Why aren't those fire fighting planes not there to dump huge amounts of water on the fires? If they work here in the Rockies where lakes are smaller water sources compared to the Gulf. Or am I off base on this? If they'd work - then again, where the hell are the Feds?

1. Because our government is incompetent! |
|
How many billions was it that we pumped into the Department of Homeland Security? Well, since Bush is so big on tax cuts, I want our money back. And we'll start with all Cheney's ill gotten gains.

4. At least that would spring Cheney from his crypt |
|
And if he dries up and blows away in the sunlight, I'm ready for Hastert. That would surely ring the death knell of the Republican Party for the next 50 years - with or without e-voting.

2. Now talking about how the fires are being fought with no H2O pressure |
|
Pumpers filled and used. Then helicopters are being used when pumpers are empty. Mississippi water is then being used.
A breeze is now blowing and is causing problems for fire fighters. Wooden homes in Garden District are burning and the wind could cause fires to spread.

trying to save people.
They don't have enough room in the sky before.
Let the fires burn out, it sucks but the Emergency folks have better things to do still.
Maybe Wolf would like to jump on a plane and do it himself, instead of spewing his worthless opinions.
Edit: Just got back. I didn't know about the new fires? Whats going on now?

Right now, they're talking about how many wooden buidlings are in NO, especially the Garden District. With the wind now kicking up, it could take out the District.
It's the rock and the hard place. Thanks again.
Edit - CNN saying how hard it is to get the fire trucks into some areas right now. Wild land fire fighting techniques are being used. I think he must mean the water buckets coming in by helicopters.
And this segment just ended.

6. Just to clarify, that's Mitch Landrieu |
|
not Sen. Mary Landrieu. They're a political dynasty down there (Mary's dad Moon was once N.O. mayor), but without the sinister overtones of the House of Bush**.

7. Because they might hit someone. |

If I was one of the people still wading around NOLA, I'd prefer the water be dropped in little plastic bottles 20 feet away from me, not by the ton on my head.
Great for forest fires, not so great in this case.

I was a firefighter and I got hit by slurry dropped from a plane. It's a little painful but no big deal. If civilians are really that close to the fire that they could get hit by a water or slurry drop, then they are in danger from the fire.

The water planes are probably only in the west.

I can see Wolf looking down at his script and asking that question whether or not it has anything to do with anything on the show at that time, prior to that or at any point in his CNN career.
Funniest show on TV.
