The use of the term "blame game" is abhorrent
"game" intimates that there is some fun going on which we all know is far, far from the truth. The use of the word "game" is a subliminal word suggesting that anyone who is opposing the administration's incompetence having fun at their expense.

2. That's why you respond that it's not a game,
it's a serious inquiry into the responsibility for the deaths.

6. The reason why they use it
It's short,
It rhymes,
It's catchy,
and therefore is very easy for mindless media types (and half wit Bush bots) to remember.

Whereas "Accountability" is harsh, complex (to explain), and threatening ( to the above same mindless media types and half wit Bush bots).

SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO,

Accountability it should be.

7. You mean like when you accuse your S.O. of playing mind games,
you have really been having fun? Yes, I can see how the word "game" always implies "fun." :eyes:

10. The adults
were supposed to be in charge. Adults know what responsibilty and accountability mean. They don't whine on about the "blame game". These cronies are all big children.

11. The use of the term is to imply...
That any questioning of the administration about Katrina is political and superficial in nature, that people are trying to play "political games" with the situation by demanding accountability.

It's like Guilliani used to call any criticism of him "political", no matter who asked the questions.

It is offensive when it's used by these thugs to get away with shit in general, but now it's so horribly inappropriate, that even the press core went ballistic when he tried to fob them off with it.

Time for Rove to call another meeting. "Frame the Defense, Plan B".

real responsibility.

"On July 3 in San Marcos, Texas, Dave Newman, 48, rescued a swimmer caught in the currents of the San Marcos River, pulling the man underneath a waterfall and to shore. However, when Newman tried to climb out of the water, a police officer offered his hand but only to arrest Newman for interfering with "official" rescuers (who, of course, failed to get to the man before Newman did)." 13. I think I'll try it at work
If my boss gets on my case for not working (and doing unproductive stuff like posting to DU...) I'll say "Oh, come off it! You're just playing the blame game!"

I'm sure that will work! Or, gee, maybe I could try actually doing my job once in a while....

15. Bush is responsible.
A commander is responsible for everything his command does or fails to do.

Bush is responsible and should be held accountable for his failures and crimes.

Bush was strumming his guitar and eating cake while this was happening:

WHAT MORE DO PEOPLE NEED TO DETERMINE THAT BUSH IS AN INCOMPETENT PUPPET!?!

17. Very well put, as if this is not to be taken seriously. They know
that words are critical and this little phrase is loaded. In fact, we here should refrain from using it.
