5. To be expected, eh? Let's hope those infected are treated early
Can cholera be treated?

Cholera can be simply and successfully treated by immediate replacement of the fluid and salts lost through diarrhea. Patients can be treated with oral rehydration solution, a prepackaged mixture of sugar and salts to be mixed with water and drunk in large amounts. This solution is used throughout the world to treat diarrhea. Severe cases also require intravenous fluid replacement. With prompt rehydration, fewer than 1% of cholera patients die.

Antibiotics shorten the course and diminish the severity of the illness, but they are not as important as rehydration. Persons who develop severe diarrhea and vomiting in countries where cholera occurs should seek medical attention promptly.

6. they also closed a shelter in Biloxi, Miss.
Cholera outbreak - this is going to be the worst public heath DISASTER even seen in the USA. EVERY single person that has survived and was exposed to this toxic dump has been relocated to other areas (received call last night - people in San Diego, CA) should be under quarantine!

Stupid fucks! We are reaping what we have sowed! DAMN THEM! DAMN THEM ALL!

2. e. coli isn't unexpected
It's pretty easy to get e. coli contamination in water. I don't think it surprises anyone- there really was no way to avoid it showing up. I'd be more surprised if they'd tested and *not* found it.

4. You're probably not far off on that
From what I hear the bird flu if it gets out into the world will kill millions, maybe hundreds of millions.
