1. Yeah but there's NO WAY Clinton would have
Responded to a disaster with the depraved indifference that was seen here. They would have had to resort to accusing him and Hilary of willing the hurricane into being with black magic or something.

2. Yes
Blame Clinton for distracting people from their latest trumped up "gate" investigations by staging a major disaster.

3. If it had been Clinton, casualties would have been much less.
He had a competent, highly qualified official in charge of FEMA.

4. What are you talking about?
A cspan caller is already blaming Clinton saying he didn't do anything about the levies the whole eight years he was in office, so we shouldn't blame Bush.

6. And the last 5 years of budget cuts for army corp of enigineers was
a dream? 70% of the LA national guard and their equipment in Iraq is another dream? I have to wonder what things would have been like had all the LA & equipment been in the US.

7. Hmmmmmmmmmm
Then what about:

Nixon, Ford, Carter, Reagan, Bush the First?

Project began in 1966, to be completed in 1975. Cat 3 level reached under Clinton, who then started studies to bring it up to cat 5. Funding to do that was cut by GOP Congress and Bush the Second.

Oh, right, we have to blame him for something, otherwise these GOP jerks will go into "Clinton blame withdrawal".

8. It's Reagan's Fault
Edited on Tue Sep-06-05 03:49 PM by Ravenseye
The New Orleans Engineers in charge of the levees have said that they not only needed money to fix it, but they needed it twenty years ago. Even if Bush had poured a billion dollars into the levees when he came to office it probably wouldn't have been enough time. They needed the money twenty years ago. Bush the Lesser, Clinton, or even Bush the Elder probably couldn't have prevented this from happening because of funding.

It only could have been saved in the early 80's. When Reagan was president.

It's all Reagan's fault.

5. Even worse - how would it be if Kerry had won the election?
Want to bet there would be constant screaming about how Chaney was right - "if you vote for Kerry he won't be able to keep you safe".

I wonder if Kerry is thinking the same thing.

11. But the national guard would still be in Iraq and the idiots would still
be in charge of FEMA and the budget cuts on the levee maintenance would still be gone. Yes, he would not be on vacation and would have responded a lot fast.
