Anyone remember Will Ferrell as * on SNL in 2001
There was a hilarious and prophetic skit with * in the Oval Office and America in ruins behind him. Ferrell as * was saying something like;
"I can't believe it all fell apart so fast."
If anyone can link a video or transcript, I think it's worth seeing.

2. It was spot on...unfortunately....
he talked about fires & floods and how things fell apart so fast and then someone commented that it had only been 2 weeks.

I think it was actually in (Oct-Nov) 2000- before the first reign of George the Terrible.

5. It was sometime
after election. With the recount and all I think it was Jan of 2001.
Would love to find a video or transcript!

11. it was during the election.....a three part sketch, showing projections
of what it would be like had he, Gore, or NAder won

the Nader segment had a bunch of pigs with wings suspended from the ceiling

that was one of the best things they ever did

beer cans strewn on the desk, under which he was hiding, refusing to come out

minibarbecue grill on desk, capitol building on fire through the window

map of US with California as a huge island; Florida as a separate country....stuff like that

3. I remember that - don't have it either.
Thought it prophetic with what happened the following year; shown in oct 2000 as part of the "what-if candidate gets elected."

Al Gore doing his weekly tv address asking if we'd done our homework assignments for the week.

Bush sitting there crying and asking for help from daddy; while capital burns behind him.

gone through, so it's becoming an almost weekly recollection!

8. Was that the one with the US map, showing Great Lakes on fire...
and Mexico having reclaimed its former territory, behind "Bush" as he spoke?

13. Do you think Wil Ferrell could portray bush on SNL again?
I can't imagine anyone would want to after this.

16. Thanks
I just found it too.

Here's a good excerpt;

President George W. Bush: Awww.. < jumps up and takes his seat > Hey, America! So, how we all doing out there, huh? Yeah, not so good. I broke the Hoover Dam.. we had that war thing happen. But I mean, who ever heard of a Civil War, anyway? What is that? < grabs a pair of binoculars, unscrews the lens, then pours alcohol from it into his mouth > I have missed you, ol' buddy! < pours it into his barbecue grill > Whoo! I think we can agree, Americans, that these have been a difficult first two years of my presidency..

Voice of Advisor: You've been President for two weeks!

President George W. Bush: Really? Oh, man! I told you, this is hard! Okay, listen.. I'm just gonna get this Address thing over with. As we assess the State of the American Union today, we have reason to hope, because.. < takes out a map which shows California and Florida as islands, Texas in Communist Mexico, and the Great Lakes on fire > Holy crap! When did all this happen?! Wow.. the Great Lakes are on fire - even I know that's not good. < laughs > Okay, America, we got a lot of problems. I ain't gonna lie to you. But with the help of Vice-President Dick Cheney..

Wow, that sounds an awful lot like "It's Hard Work".

Will Farrell is apparently Nostrafuckindamus.

21. Prophetic to say the least ...
That skit has haunted these past years ... It was too horribly accurate.

"The Great Lakes are on fire ... even I know that's bad."

22. actually thought about that skit several times
We all knew it was too close to true to be really funny.
The world is in chaos and the dunce just sits there, unable or unwilling to respond.
The joke's on us.

23. I've thought about that skit frequently over the past few years.
Ferrell looking into the camera with a map of the U.S. in flames behind him and crying "This is so hard!"
