READ THIS. It might make you feel better.
Edited on Tue Sep-06-05 04:20 PM by MojoXN
For those of you who don't know the words, here they are. This song is New Orleans heart and soul, and the ideas that it expresses are entirely appropriate to the matter at hand.

Oh when the Saints go marching in...

Yes when the saints go marching in...

I want to be in that number...

When the Saints go marching in...

Oh when the sun refuse to shine...

Oh when the sun refuse to shine...

I still want to be in that number...

Oh when the sun refuse to shine...

Oh when the Saints go marching in...

Oh when the moon turns red with blood...

When the moon turns red with blood...

Oh Lord I want to be in that number...

When the Saints go marching in...

On that hallelujah day...

On that hallelujah day...

Oh lord I want to be in that number...

When the saints go marching in...

Oh when the trumpet sounds the call...

Oh when the trumpet sounds the call...

Oh lord I want to be in that number...

When the saints go marching in...

Some say this world of trouble...

Is the only one we need...

But I’m waiting for that morning...

When the new world is revealed...

When the revelation comes...

When the revelation comes....

Oh lord I want to be in that number...

When the saints go marching in...

When the rich go out and work...

When the rich go out and work...

Oh lord I want to be in that number...

When the saints go marching in...

When the air is pure and clean...

When the air is pure and clean...

Oh lord I want to be in that number...

When the saints go marching in...

When we all have food to eat...

When we all have food to eat...

Oh lord I want to be in that number...

When the saints go marching in...

When our leaders learn to cry...

When our leaders learn to cry...

Oh lord I want to be in that number...

When the saints go marching in...

Never Forget. Never. Somewhere, Satchmo is crying for his people. So am I.

Me too. This has always been one of my favorite songs. Everyone knows the tune, no one knows the words. I think that if every DU'er read them, it could bring a lot of solace. Peace be with you, my friend. May God bless and protect the United States of America, because the government sure as hell won't.

4. Oh, by the way, yol bolsun!
Ask me if you want to know what it means. It's my hands-down favorite greeting/farewell/toast.

8. I know. I know.
Nor will the rich work. The soul of New Orleans died en masse last week. N.O. and America at large will NEVER be the same. Ever... It was those poor black people that Bush wrote off that WERE N.O. They were New Orleans, not the French Quarter, not the tourist spots, not Mardi Gras, but the people, the average, everyday people who lived and worked there, the ones who raised generations of family there. When they died, New Orleans died with them.

9. Used to be a man who played
"When the Saints Win the Superbowl" right outside the Cafe du Monde...
People used to laugh, but that's what that city is about, it's all about hope. Man, I wish I had never left.

11. I pray that you're right.
I pray beyond prayer that the people of N.O. can make their city what it was once again. My God, can this really be happening? Is this some nightmare that I'll wake up from and shiver? It's not, it's not. I don't know WHAT to do. My God, what dark days we live in...

12. Satchmo knew what he was talking about...
Like I said, eveyine knows the tune, but no one knows the damn words. I miss N.O., not the city, but its people. That city has done more to define American culture than any other, including NYC. The poor of New Orleans are the soul of America, and you can quote me on that.
