Salon: The President as Hurricane Victim - Wash. Times Pro-Bush Editorial
Washington Times, what can you expect? But go to the end of this Salon clip for some great news:

In a column posted today, the paper's editor in chief says that the "vultures of the venomous left" ought to lay off old George W. Bush. The president's critics, Wesley Pruden writes, "can't believe their great good luck, that a hurricane, of all things, finally gives them the opening they've been waiting for to heap calumny and scorn on him for something that might get a little traction." Pruden says Cindy Sheehan is "yesterday news" and couldn't attract a camera crew if she stripped naked down in Crawford, Texas; Katrina is the new darling of the left.

That's just the warm-up.

Pruden has harsh words for New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin (he kept the city's school buses "locked in neat rows when there was still time to take refugees to higher ground"); for Louisiana Gov. Kathleen Blanco (her "dithering opened the way for looters, rapists and killers to make New Orleans an unholy hell"); and for Louisiana Sen. Mary Landrieu (she "seems to think she's cute when she's mad"). The Revs. Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson are "race hustlers" and "self-appointed ambassadors of ill will," Pruden says, but he seems to take some solace in the notion that the two of them and other members of the "nutcake left" aren't having much of an effect on how Americans view their president.

He may be getting ahead of himself there. While a Washington Post/ABC News poll released Friday had the nation evenly split on the president's handling of Katrina -- itself a remarkable fact, given the way Americans usually come together behind their president in times of crisis -- a Survey USA poll released over the weekend had Americans disapproving of the way Bush is handling Katrina by a margin of 55 percent to 38 percent.

1. Washington Times. Pfffft. It doesn't get any more moon-bat crazy...
... than that worthless rag. They've been the Fox 'News" of the printed page... since long before there was a Fox 'News' on the air.

"Venomous left"? Memo to you anti-American right-wing freaks: You ain't seen nothin' yet. The time has come to destroy you, to stamp out your sick and evil ideology once and for all, and restore this country to the progressive ideals that made her great.

Time's up, reich-wing. You lose.

3. Literally moon-bat. Rev. Moon moon-bat.
In my estimation, cultist Moon and his vast resources represent a greater danger to American democracy than any ten leaders of al-Queda combined. But few take him seriously. I don't understand why the Christian right supports anything this self-proclaimed "god" has his hands in.

6. Absolutely. The moonies are a festering enemy within.
The fact that the christian right is in bed with them just makes it all the more shocking and sick.

Religious cultists of any stripe are the true danger to America.

2. I want to kill this guy...
Not that I'm going to, mind you, but I want to just the same.

4. As it's an editorial, it was most likely written by a group of guys.
Maybe with a few pointers from Karl or Karen.

5. I saw this charge against Nagin coming days ago
In fact, posters were spreading it on left-wing boards, including DU, a couple of days ago. This is a RW smear and nothing more.

7. Let me guess...written by a WHITE wealthy person? Must be nice
to sit in A/C below 75 degrees to keep their fat asses cool, sipping on champagne and toasting their spoon fed lameduck president. Bush sucks...nothing can change that fact.
