Online Journal, one of the greats, is 7 years old today!

Born, like an Internet Venus, out of the outrageous foaming over the Clinton indiscretion, Online Journal was one of those sites I always checked, compulsively, every day for brilliant counter-impeachment reporting--in the company of sites like Media Whores Online, Bartcop, the Daily Brew, Consortium News, American Politics Journal. Election 2000 only made them stronger.

Bev Conover, who, I think, founded the site, is a wonderful journalist in her own right and a nurturing editor-in-chief, as well. When St. Marks chickened out on Jim Hatfield's Fortunate Son, Online Journal gave the freshly villainized Hatfield a home until his untimely death.

Sadly, I don't check in there much anymore, but for some reason, I did today. Happy birthday, Online Journal!
