My uncle has seen the light, and this is a big deal |
|
My uncle is a 27 year veteran. US Army Ranger. He jumped into everything we were involved in from 1975 - Gulf War I. First, he's a great guy. I mean a really great guy. I love him dearly, but we've butted heads over politics since 2000. Not a lot, mind you, but we each know how the other feels.
We were at his house this weekend and my aunt (has always been on our side) said, "hey, your uncle has seen the light." Then my uncle says, "yeah, that dumbass sumbitch really screwed the pooch on this one. Sorry piece of shit." That was pretty much all he said. I could feel the waves of hatred though. For some reason, this hurricane thing triggered something in him that nothing else up to this point has been able to trigger.
There ya go, freepfucks, you lost another repuke vote.

2. If bush stood by eating cake and playing guitar while New Orleans drowned |
|
then I think people understand that he won't lift a little finger to help anybody anywhere in America.
Good for your uncle. And I'll bite my tongue about admonishing him for ever being fooled by the Great Deceiver to begin with.

3. I think he may be feeling the poisonous sting of betrayal. |
|
He was (is?) in the military, and they REALLY don't take kindly to men who leave their own behind. It's part of their sense of honor, I think.

5. This is a strong trend that will keep growing |
|
My RW In-Laws who voted for * twice want all of them impeached for what happened. It was shocking when hubby told me.
Some will keep refusing to see the truth...my RW mother won't...she'll just say 'quit persecuting christian bush' and shove her nose deeper in the bible.

as they realize the inherent racism in their party.

7. Funny, "screwed the pooch" is the exact same phrase my dad used |
|
I just got off the phone with him and those were his words, too.
My dad came over in 2003 after having been a lifetime republican. It feels good when they leave the dark side, doesn't it? :)

9. Hard for the repukes to refute Fahrenheit 911 now. When bush's |

behavior is pretty much the same.

11. I'm afraid to talk to my repuke parents because |
|
I think they're still Bushbots. It would be extremely happy to see them come around, but I don't want to get my hopes up. They came up with a rule in 2000 that we can't talk politics (because I always have hard facts and all they have is Faux), so I haven't been able to make much of an effort to keep in regular contact with them. It's kind of hard to talk about anything today without talking about politics.

12. My husband talked to his Repub Dad last night |
|
With similar results.
Pop-in-Law reportedly said:"Well, I guess Bush has gone down to help fix New Orleans." with his voice dripping sarcasm.
My husband just laughed and said, "Yeah, I guess he has." and that was it. But he thought it was important enough that he came to my studio immediately afterward and said to me, "My dad has turned."

BTW, the Chimperor didn't "screw the pooch." He "milked the stallion."
