1. That's appropriate...
...given the human misery now associated with it. :(

3. Spray the interior with lucite
and preserve it as a memorial. Let it stand and future generations be able to visit it and see the results of allowing criminals to run the government.

4. Who among us could ever go in there again without feeling haunted?
The pain, the anguish, the horror. It could never be used as a place of fun and celebration again, and it would almost seem disrespectful to have sports played there, wouldn't it?

Wonder where they'll have the Super Bowl now? I'm just glad they won't be having it there.

5. Should be a memorial... SuperDome should never have been
built on a cemetary, whether you are superstitious or not. Maybe self-fulfilling prophesy, but it has brought nothing but misery to this city.

19. yes.. that's why they swore the Saints were "cursed.."
In a town that takes all things mystical so seriously, including voodoo curses, and other ancient prophesy, it would have seemed well to have taken seriously. That's what I mean by self-fulfilling prophesy.

6. I heard the Saints are likely to leave for good now too
and I heard San Antonio was a front runner. Still no team in Los Angeles?

7. And then will the taxpayers
be coerced into building a new stadium?

Sorry - that's extreme sarcasm. Who knows if or when New Orleans will be rebuilt as a real city?

8. They should tear it
down and put the cemetery back along with a memorial to all those lost in Katrina and its aftermath.

9. How ironic that it was the scene of Poppy's coronation in '88
Edited on Tue Sep-06-05 06:12 PM by KamaAina
thus, the opening chapter of the Bush** Dynasty that we trust will be imploding any day now.

Service workers like cab drivers and waitstaff said the repuke delegates were the worst tippers they'd ever seen. I'm shocked, I tell you. Shocked!

edit: Yikes! '88 not '92!

10. I heard this a few days ago
It was just a rumor then.

The damage is extensive, blood, feces and urine, not to mention there was a fire in some kind of trash shoot. (Link to scanner thread on fire http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=104x4545086 )

Excluding all of that, the place is filled with the memory of death and loss. A memorial there would be appropriate.

ain't no lie ... ridden with filth and disease - not reason to even think of fixing it up. Just like Abu Ghraib scenario, tear down that hell pit and build them Iraqis a brand new prison! Good God!

screw pro football - circuses to distract the plebes.

and screw domed stadia - the Superdome always was a fascist blight of 70's crap architecture - worse than Riverfront Stadium & 3 Rivers Stadium combined.
