So Proud of My Fellow DC Residents
I just wanted to say how proud I am of my fellow DC residents, who have stepped up to the plate in a major way in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.

Some of the evacuees came into DC today via Dulles Airport, and were greeted at the airport by applause.

One DC resident tried to bring shoes and clothes to the DC Armory, figuring an evacuee could use it. But she was told they already had enough clothes, etc. She took matters into her own hands, and simply outfitted someone on her own, oustide the D.C. Armory.

I am just so proud of my people! And I know Jesus would be, too. I can hear him saying "Well done, thou good and faithful servants."

1. That's wonderful!
DC is a fantastic city. I visited it for the first time this summer and fell in love with it.

3. I just watched News 4 and would have to agree.
Good to see Mayor Williams out there. And that poor woman who had just been released from a hospital (??) WITH NO SHOES and a woman in a "Mercedes" literally gave her the shoes off of her feet. (Not sure why they had to mention "Mercedes" other than it adding to the drama...)

4. Yes, that was a beautiful story, wasn't it?
The human spirit and the capacity for kindness is a beautiful thing.

And you could tell the evacuees were really touched by the outpouring of support.
