Will Arnold Sign The Historic Same Sex Marriage Bill?
If he doesn't, he alienates every gay and lesbian family in California, and most of THEIR relatives, a huge bloc of voters. He can't really afford to do that if he wants to be re elected next year, as many of these people supported him last time.

The religious rightwing hates Arnold, because he's a "RINO." He's pro choice, moderately pro gay rights, not a bible thumper. They accept him because he's about as conservative as they're going to get in California right now. Considering his probable Dem opponent next year is Lockyer or Angelides, the rightwingers can either vote for Arnold or stay home. They have no other choice.

He has a chance to be a hero here and go down in the history books as a courageous man who acted on principle and led America into a new age of civil rights.

My bet is he vetoes it.

3. I emailed him about 5 minutes ago.
I hit the point that he could be a pioneer, and that he'd be remembered for generations as a hero if he signed the bill. A bit of ego-stroking, yes, but it sometimes works..

I honestly don't know what he'll do.

4. If he signs it, that will be the reason why
He likes being a hero, and this would truly go down in the history books.

5. He said during the "campaign" something along the lines of he didn't
approve of gay marriage but if that's want the people want to allow he's cool with it. So I expect him to come out with a double-backtwist bush*tastic reversal and 'splain why he now has to veto it.

7. I don't think he is smart enough...
To see the benefit to him in signing it. I think he will succumb to threats from above. I have a hard time getting worked up enough to hate Arnold...because damnit I love the Terminator movies. If he does show courage and intelligence and signs this, he will get no more criticism from me!
