If you came face to face with Bush**,
What would you tell him? Per DU rules, keep it non-threatening. I saw in an interview that Scarlett Johansson would say "shame on you." That about says it IMO.

28. That works!
It has been done over here towards the neoconservativette leadership, personified in this man:

But this was in the past - he's gaining support now, because of the 'war' on terror.

But turning backs is stronger than yelling.

When it comes to meeting Bush personally, I hope that never happens.
I'm not sure I'd be able to adhere to the DU rules then ...

Edited on Wed Sep-07-05 12:48 AM by liberaltrucker
Although I'd NEVER advocate or condone intentional harm to any head of state, I pray that I get a chance to turn my back to this literal son of a bitch while at the same time flipping him off.

6. I have
on many occasions

but I was accompanying groups of children, so all I could do was stand by and glare silently, making a point of looking as decidely unimpressed as possible

he never made eye contact with me

though I did get an autographed photo just before he left Texas for the Big Trough in 2001

one of my colleagues put his (autographed photo) on the underside of his toilet lid

:D

15. None of these are sufficient.
I'm afraid I'd have to go with Senator Landreaux's idea. He has crossed the line for the last time and deserves no less.

If one remembers, she promised to punch him if he again threw blame at local authorities for what is obviously a lapse of the promise of the president at his oath of office, to uphold the constitution, which he has obviously violated in working against the common defense and domestic tranquility.

17. This will be unpopular.
But I would shake his hand, in respect of the position he holds.

If the opportunity presented itself, I would just say that he had such a chance to show the country, and the world how he could step up.

He could have moved heaven and earth to help in the run-up to the hurricane.

He could force the country into a direction for renewable, clean energy, funding education in the sciences with full scholarships.

He could make the country become what he tells people it will, but actually do it, instead of undermining it with support for the big businesses.

Unlike most people here, I don't think Bush is the problem. He's so dumb, he can't be in charge of anything, he's just the puppet.

25. He was appointed, and controlled at all times.
But the title he holds is the same as Lincoln, Washington, Kennedy, etc.

He has damaged the reputation of the country. He has tainted the office.

If there is any justice in the universe, there will be a president who themselves can command respect again someday.

But, for the time being, he still holds the title. I didn't say I like him, but I'd still respect the office he was placed in.

The office has been corrupted for 200 years+.

The Republicans just corrupted it best this time.

As long as money sits in the chair of the President, it will be this way.

32. Cool. I understand what you're saying and would possibly agree
with you HAD this pResident been elected honestly..withOUT the obvious incompetence and even criminality of his regime. I don't have a problem with authority per se, but W and co. are beyond the pale. But like I said, I understand the sentiment, but for me it doesn't apply in this case. It's more than dem v. repub this time. Hope you understand, 'cause I really want you on our side.

Peace.

38. Thanks for understanding.
I knew very few would like what I said.

I am not golfing with the guy. I've had to tell people at work, just because I work for you doesn't mean I have to like you.

The same applies here. He is president, which means there has to be a level of respect for the office. But I don't have to hang out with the guy.

As far as sides go, I can never vote Republican. But, if the Democrats continue to poop out people like Biden, I will continue to vote for the candidate that is most likely to support what I believe. Which often means Green, and in a local case here, a Libertarian, since the Democrat was no better than the Republican, and no other party ran.

People say I am throwing my vote away, but I don't believe voting a Biden in is going to help anybody, just to knock a Republican out.
