How many people in this country have no idea what is going on?
It may be on tv networks, and in newspapers, but I work with people who don't know what is really going on. Frankly I think it's because they don't want to know, because it doesn't directly effect them. This sickens me!

"Many Days Pass And People Die Very Much"

In the last week, we've seen many of the black poor of New Orleans not only left behind in a new Atlantis, but thousands upon thousands of them -- those who didn't die in their wheelchairs, or on highway overpasses, or in the ill-fated convention center, or unattended and forgotten in their homes -- sent off on what looked very much like a new trail of tears. Right now, above all, New Orleans and the Mississippi coast, as so many reporters have observed with shock, are simply the Bangladesh of North America (after a disastrous set of monsoons), or a Kinshasa (without the resources).

4. Way to many people blissfully ignoring the huge zit on....
the face of the USA. The huge zit is now a staff infection racing to the heart and if we wait much longer the USA will die.

6. Apparently, there are even people in New Orleans that don't know what's
going on. So, it's no surprise that there are lots of others that remain clueless.

9. My rather oblivious daughter knows
Now 21 and sometimes self absorbed, as I've said before. She's sort of my barometer on what's sinking through and this is definitely sinking through. One of those "can't tear myself away" situations. She's even organizing friends to send relief boxes to a contact I have (thanks to BouncyBall). So I think people know, but I don't think they quite get the politics of it all. I know she doesn't, although she tries. She thinks I'm too political so has to double check what I say, which is more a mother/daughter thing because I did raise ALL Democrats. (You knew I did, right? :))

12. my 24 year old daughter knows, too
I think that age group is donating their money and time without comprehending the politics. My daughter constantly questions my cynicism - but will quote me while teaching her public speech class.
I am from a rural area - and I assure you - not that many people from around here understand what really happened - or why.
