No wonder the anti-war movement can't get anything done!
They've been going about it the wrong way!

From the way the right has been trying to spin it, Mayors and Governers across the country have more control over the National Guard than Bush does! That makes it so much easier doesn't it? Get on the horn and tell your local Mayor in Bumfuck Idaho to get those troops back home!

After all, they have way more control over this issue. :eyes:

what's next, hoovervilles? bread lines? Jim Crow laws? I guess the neo-cons are just a bunch of sentamentalists at heart.

*on edit: Perhaps I should have added the :sarcasm: emoticon, lest I be taken seriously about the sentimentality of the neo-cons:yoiks:

9. Sentamentalists? Not exactly. Fascists. That is exact.
What appears to many as incompetence -- and I would think by this time everyone could see that incompetence can no longer be held as an excuse for treason -- is their strategy for destroying every aspect of our Democracy from the inside out. They are leading us down a path of destruction; the ultimate aim is to get us to beg for the end of the Constitution.

Mark my words and mark them well. I've been watching it intelligently for many years.

12. When we have some time
we should start an in-depth discussion on this. I really think it needs to be put up front again; although I know I may be labelled a freep for it.

14. 'States Rights' has been synonymous with racism and bigotry
for quite some time and not without good reason.

But racism was evident from the very beginnings of white settling of this continent -- it is something some of us at least have been attempting to outgrow. But there is a deeper question regarding the value of cultural diversity in a Democracy. With the Facist state in the ascendant, it is difficult to discuss these things at this point.

US CODE :
TITLE 10 > Subtitle E > PART II > CHAPTER 1211 > § 12406

§ 12406. National Guard in Federal service: call

Whenever—
(1) the United States, or any of the Territories, Commonwealths, or possessions, is invaded or is in danger of invasion by a foreign nation;
(2) there is a rebellion or danger of a rebellion against the authority of the Government of the United States; or
(3) the President is unable with the regular forces to execute the laws of the United States;
the President may call into Federal service members and units of the National Guard of any State in such numbers as he considers necessary to repel the invasion, suppress the rebellion, or execute those laws. Orders for these purposes shall be issued through the governors of the States or, in the case of the District of Columbia, through the commanding general of the National Guard of the District of Columbia.

tis funny how they play it out to be
just because the governors hafta sign the papers doesnt mean theyve made it so.
it say right there that the president CALLS them into use and the governors follow that call.
*shrugs*
